Rosary Rings: Are they useful or simply jewelry?

Unlike finger rosaries, rosary rings are designed to be worn so that you always have a rosary with you where ever you go. I really like this idea but I’m curious to know if these rings can really be used to pray the rosary? The ring’s design is simple, the ring looks similar to a wedding band with ten slightly raised bumps for praying the Hail Mary and a small cross for praying the Our Father.

Are these rings meant to be used during prayer or are they simply worn as a reminder of one’s Faith?

Thanks 👍

I’m thinking they’re for both purposes. I have a Rosary key chain that works for actually praying the Rosary AND it reminds me of my faith whenever I look at it.

BTW, I had never come across the rings that look like wedding bands, and I really like that idea; I may need to do some shopping myself! 🙂

Sweet, I’m looking for a rosary that I can carry with me with out having to worry about it getting broken. I’ll check out keyring Rosaryies as well.

Here’s a link to the ring if you want to check it out.

Thanks for the link. The more I look at the pictures the more I like the idea. Also, I read in one of the descriptions that you slip the ring to the tip of your finger for praying; that makes more sense to me than using it in the regular ring position.

Here’s a link to the kind of keychain I have: cgi.ebay.com/WOW-Keychain-ROSARY-pouch-Pick-your-color-/300455082549?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item45f484ba35

It is very sturdy and, although it’s not quite as easy to use as beads (for me), it works perfectly well for praying.

I use mine for prayer. I belong to a Cenacle of Life prayer group. We meet weekly to pray 2 decades of the rosary. We take turns announcing the mysteries, and leading the prayers. The mystery commentary is different than the regular rosary. So holding the pamphlet, and the beads is very awkward for me. The rosary ring makes it much easier.

I have a Rosary finger ring.

I got mine in the St Paul’s bookshop next to Westminster Cathedral in London. They only cost £6 or so.

I find it does work for saying the Rosary- not as well as beads of course, but it does the job as a backstop and it has come in useful for example when I have been to confession but without my rosary and been given a rosary related penance.

I wear it normally on my small finger, but move it to last joint of the index finger, where it rotates nicely by use of the thumb to count the Hail Mary’s.

I also do like wearing as a constant reminder to myself though too- its very discrete and I doubt most people would know what it was.

Blah , blah, blah,

Any Rosary like item that is worn without being prayed is just an adornment!!

I carry my Rosary in my pocket but, I pray it everyday.

Carry it where you will…but pray it everyday!!

That sounds a little bit harsh, Perro Sarnoso. 😦
I wear a rosary bracelet that I made myself. I do pray the rosary daily (I actually pray it with Mother Angelica and the sisters on EWTN each night) but it also serves as a reminder of my faith, as I am ever conscious of it since the crucifix and the miraculous medal dangle and move when I move my hand. I do not see it as just a piece of jewelry, and I’d like to believe that others that wear a rosary ring or bracelet also realize it is not an adornment but a utensil, if you will.

Thanks 👍
both, I have one on my work and personal keychains so I am never w/o a rosary, because so often I pass the rosaries in my purse or pocket along to others. I purchase them in bulk for the parish, and prefer the design where the cross does not have sharp edges or is embossed on the ring, so save pockets from ripping.

I also use it when I use my new walking poles, since I am used to praying the rosary when I walk, and a regular rosary “jiggles” too much. I just saw some of those rubber wrist bracelets the kids like which are also rosary bracelets, with the “beads” and cross embossed, think that will be my next bulk order.

What a cool idea. Can you share where you found them? Thanks.

I think they could definitely be useful for some people. I also think they can be nice jewelry. However, I can’t wear or use them because of various physical problems with my hands such as arthritis and carpal tunnel syndrome. So I just simply use a regular rosary instead. 🙂
