Is it okay to wear rosary-style necklaces?

I have worn a necklace with a cross on it for years. Months ago, I noticed a friend of mine in my small group wearing a gold, rosary-style necklace. I was a little surprised at first-I was always told never to wear rosaries as a child- but I also thought it was beautiful. It is not a traditional rosary. It was definitely made to be a necklace. It is delicate and has a clasp on the back. However, she did say that she loved that it was practical and could be used to pray as well, which reminded me of rosary bracelets. Like I said, I thought it was beautiful and have considered getting one many times since, but am worried others may see it as a sign of disrespect. Has the church ever said anything about this? I will also note that I think wearing rosaries is more common in the country where her family is from.

I’m not able to exactly address your question. I bought my wife a silver rosary necklace as a Christmas gift. It’s a fully functional rosary, but it was meant to also be a piece of jewelry. It is big enough to go over her head without needing a clasp. The beads are smaller and more delicate looking than on a standard rosary. I dare say it is actually stronger than my regular rosary which has had links open on it a few times. I’ve seen her pray on it a number of times. Our pastor blessed it for her, so I don’t think there is a problem with having one. Hope this helps.

Yes, it is ok.
My favorite one was very fragile but very beautiful made of tiny pearls .
I also wore another one with tiny silver beads.
We wear them for what they mean ,it is quite common where I live to wear either a medal, a cross or a rosary as a necklace. Visible or not. Doesn t matter
