Rosary superstition

Hello fellow members an believers, I have a question about a problem thats been bothering me far too long.
Now I consider myself as a strong believer and I think I have faith. My problem kind of goes under the category of superstition.
My first problem occured last year, I constantly wear some sort of religious necklace, either a rosary or my silver cross necklace. So, last year while I was out of town on a trip, my rosary just snapped with no reason whatsoever. Now I didnt give it much thought because it was a rather cheap rosary and it could have snapped from low quality build.
After a couple of months the same thing occured with a similar rosary like the previous one but again it wasnt that much of an issue.
The thing started to worry me while I was at a friend, we were in his house and I noticed a beautiful wooden cross with a silver jesus on it. As I picked it up the jesus fell right off of the cross. And my friend was certain it wasnt broken before.
A couple of months ago my mother gave me her rosary that she got from vatican, a beautiful white one, and after a couple of weeks while I was carrying some books, it broke and fell off without me even noticing.Now it could have been from the large amount of books I was carrying that were leaned on my chest but still, it wasnt the first time.
The last time it happened was a few days ago while working, I was wearing my silver cross and dropped something on the floor. While I was leaning down for it my cross necklace came out of the shirt and while getting up the cross got caught by a metal box and a small jesus fell of.
I still dont give it that much thought, although I think there might be some meaning to it. I was wondering if you could give me some insight or has anyone had similar issues. Thank you very much in advance.
 
You’re giving it way too much thought.
They are best kept in a zippered pouch or a string pouch.
 
Rosaries are considered a tool for prayer, ephemera, not meant to last a lifetime. That said mine has lasted almost 50 years. If you are concerned, talk to your priest.
 
You are over thinking this, and yes, it’s making you superstitious.
Rosaries and necklaces are material objects, reminders, of God. There is nothing magical about them, nor do they have super powers.

What is of value is the prayers and faith that they lead us to, encourage us towards.

Again, they are just objects.
 
I have had that happen twice. The way they are designed, they don’t stand up well to the rigors the body puts it through when wearing it under you cloths. [Which is the only way TO wear it in my o.]

I used to be prone to superstition. It is just a snare you need to turn your back on.
 
My immediate thought is simply secure the rosaries safely and use them for prayer only and most of these issues will go away.

Rosaries are not made to be worn around the neck. They are made from a soft, pliable metal and will not stand up to the constant movement. The other necklaces you have that are to be worn are made from better material, but are not of the finest quality and eventually they will also fall apart. It only means 2 things: 1) use your rosary for prayer and 2) when the other necklaces break, replace them. The timing might be weird, but it doesn’t mean anything more than that.

In my parish, there are free rosaries that are made of tough synthetic string and plastic beads. They are virtually indestructible. I suggest you look for one of these cheap ones. If you can’t find one, send me a message with your address and you will have one in the mail in a few days.

You can pray the rosary on a broken set of beads, by the way.
 
Don’t be too concerned. As some other users pointed out: a) they aren’t meant for constant or rapid movement; b) they are intended for prayer, so be cautious to use them for that.

As far as that’s concerned, you can pray the Rosary on your fingers. No actual beads are needed.
 
Yes, I had a rosary or, I believe, two where Christ simply slid off. Now, I look to types of rosaries where his image isn’t set into wood, where it’s all metal where he can’t fall off. I don’t wear rosaries, but even so, it happened to me.

We see plastic as an insult to God1! I make strong sturdy rosaries with sturdy cotton thread and wooden beads and rhey last forever. Someone put one of mine on a statue of Mary by a pier and it is till there to this day… Our bead rosaries are sturdy too, on 12 lb fishing line that goes round three times…

The answer to your problem is simple. Don’t wear your Rosary. Keep it in your pocket or bag.

As for your comments you are making a mountain out of a molehill. All of that is just coincidence.
 
I have several rosary beads… I have tough work-a-day rosary beads that survive no matter how careless I can be. I have beautiful rosary beads that I cherish.

The beads are not the Rosary. The Rosary is a prayer. It is a beautiful prayer and the beads help us concentrate. The beads are a wonderful tool that should be cared for as much as possible but the prayer itself is indestructible.

Sometimes, Coincidental happenings are meant to get our attention. What you have to look at is the action the crucifixes take. That of separation. From the cross on the wall to the rosary around your neck. Superstitions are actions that create a negative response in story and legend. More of a precautionary tale.

Go to your Priest with this, He can guide you into discovering the true message

I agree with this.

Also you’re being superstitious which is not spiritually healthy. Just chill, if you’re wearing a rosary around all day/everyday its gonna fall apart a lot faster than people who keep them in a pouch or a box. Don’t worry and go get another one to replace it. The important thing is that you pray with it. That’s what its for. 😉
 
You need to pray the Rosary with all you strength ,the thing,s that are happening to you is that the Devil is trying to bring you away from the love of Our Blessed Mother, and with what happen when you touch the Cross, is because you need to give your heat to Jesus,pray to Mary for help she will come to your aid, but never give up on your Faith, for the Devil is waiting for you to do so. If you’re wearing the Rosary as an adornment (rather than wearing it as a handy place to keep it to remind you to pray it) then perhaps there is a message telling you that the Rosary is not jewelry, it’s a sacramental, and it should be treated as such. Other than that, I’d say if your intentions are for using it, then it’s a coincidence and likely is being caused by too much movement, snagging on clothing,etc.

As another poster mentioned, a “combat rosary” might be more appropriate, or a simple knotted cord rosary. All my bead rosaries I carry in a pouch to protect them. The only one I just stuff in my pocket (or occasionally wear around my neck, under my shirt, for convenience) is my knotted cord rosary.
