Rosie: Didn't intend to mock Chinese

NEW YORK (AP) – Rosie O’Donnell says she’s sorry for mocking spoken Chinese on “The View,” but an association that represents journalists from diverse ethnic and racial backgrounds, including Chinese American, says it wasn’t enough.
A couple thoughts on this. 1 - what did she have to say about Mel Gibson? 2 - maybe she should play it safer by going back to mocking Catholics
 
Let’s see, she didn’t intend to mock the Chinese! Should we believe that? So far she has mocked the Pope, all Catholic priests, the Catholic religion in general, all Republicans starting with our president. Since I don’t the View I can’t even make a comprehensive list on everyone she has mocked. I just get the hightlights on talk radio and the news. She has a lot to answer for in my opinion.
 
Who does this woman think she is and why does she get away with her “free speech” without being called on it?
She jumps immediately on even the slightest perception of anti-gay comment but can preach anti anything she wants and the public (media) says…nothing.
Nowadays, people are so afraid of being labled anti gay that the gays are pretty much permitted to say anything they want against anyone they want.
What a sad state of affairs.
 
For someone who labels “anti-gays” as intolerant, maybe she should look in the mirror.

I wonder what BW’s would do if one of the other ladies on her show mocked gay people?
 
Rosie is the worst thing to ever happy to The View. I really enjoyed the show in its first few seasons, but lately I can’t stand to turn it on. It’s the Rosie Show all over again.

Maybe I am remembering it wrong, but atleast near the begining her talk show didn’t seem too bad. Though like I said I only watched on occasion and even then that was only during maybe the first 3 years.
I am not Chinese or even Asian so I can’t forgive, but I am wondering how sorry she is. I mean she should be given benefit of the doubt. It just seems like in the first paragraph they show of her apology like it is almost mocking. Did anyone see the show or know how her tone was when she apoligized?

Her first respone, “Hey, it as a joke” was more honest.
 
Has Rosie ever apologized to the Catholic church for her statements? Oh I forgot, you can say just about anything against the Catholic church and not be held accountable!
 
Well honestly going back and reading I really think it was unlikely she was really sorry. The video just gets rids of any doubts I had.

Mel Gibson said far worse things than Rosie and he was forgiven. I would say that Rosie deserves the same break.

I know how you feel, I feel that way about Mel Gibson, however we have to take both of them at face value.
Only God knows what is in their hearts.

Some talk radio is fine, some I consider hate radio. I sometimes listen to G.Gordon Liddy because he’s intelligent and he truly believes what he says. I have difficulty listening to Rush Limbaugh, even though I know he’s only acting and doesn’t believe his own words, ever since he trashed a child in White House. (Chelsea Clinton)
I like Rosie, she tells it like it is.
I also admire her devotion to children.
Rosie was molested as a child, Jesus preached against hurting a child. A hurt child grows into a damaged adult.

Oh, contrere. Mel Gibson has not been forgiven by many people, especially the Hollywood crowd. You notice that none of his films that the critics say are excellent are nominated for an award of any kind.

I don’t think that he deserved an award but I that’s because I don’t like his movies. I think that he makes “guy” movies and I like Chick Flicks.
It’s not Hollywood that he needs to worry about, it’s the general public who will or will not support his movies.
Look at Spielberg, he didn’t exactly suffer because he wasn’t recognized by that crowd.
So many of Redford’s movies have been overlooked by Hollywood, and yet he prospers.
Gibson has a following of True Believers. He won’t go broke because Karianne doesn’t like his movies. He’ll be fine.
I actually meant that this forum seems to have forgiven Mel, and I want the same courtesy extended to Rosie.

That is true I can give her the benefit if the doubt and assume she is sorry. Though I am not one that can forgive her since I am not of Asian desent. What I really meant by what I said was that I can kinda see where people are saying that it dosen’t seem like an apology and those that those that were offended arn’t happy with it. I hope though that those that were offended can forgive her and that she will learn to be more careful about this sort of thing.

You may not like his movies. Personally, I have never seen any of the late ones. But somebody likes them because he draws in a lot of people. Check the stats.

Do I also have to fogive her for claiming the Pope was personally involvred in the Homosexual Priest scandal ? How about her vicious and repeatd attacks on the Catholic Faith? Or her respeated accusations of homophobia and hate for anyone who disagrees with her lifestyle?

The difference is Mel (IMO) seems truly sorry and he is not a “repeat offender”, where as Rosie gets on her soapbox and doesn’t seem to care who she insults and gets upset when someone doen’t agree with her.
