Does anyone remember these things? I found one recently and started to play with it, but after awhile I just gave up. Can anyone solve these without going online to find out how?

I was never a whiz at solving them, but was amused to see a kid about 10 dressed as one in the local Halloween parade last night. I wouldn’t have thought he’d know what it was - I’d have expected him to dress as a Pokemon Go character or something else currently trendy. Either Rubiks Cubes are back in style, or he’s one of those eccentric smart kids.

It took me about 2 years to finish one when I was a child. Never touched one again. I did watch a you-tube video where a kid completed one in less than 10 seconds 😳

Certainly do! I think I can remember getting all the sides the one color after a loooooonnnnngggg time. But being so long ago, I couldn’t tell you how to do it. You’d be best to google it or check youtube for videos about it.

There was some publicity recently about the newest generation of AI robots becoming “champions” at solving them.

Then there’s the group “solving” the cube by peeling the little plastic color stickers off, and re-pasteing them in the “solved” position. 👿

I know a lot of people who got ad far as solving part way, giving up, and changing the stickers.

It’s kind of fascinating to watch the bot solve it. Prolly a UTUBE on that out there.

My former brother-in-law could solve it regularly and pretty quick when he was a kid back in the '80s. He became a computer programmer in the early days of Silicon Valley and made all kinds of money from stock options when the company he worked for went public. Smart kid!

Hey, that’s my way!
Mine, too. That’s the only way I solved it as a kid. Of course, the stickers never stuck quite the same after that.

Now, I go online and follow the directions. 😊

If I was younger and my mind was still elastic, I would probably memorize the online instructions so that I could solve it on my own. Alas, my capacity for that type of memorization isn’t what it once was.
