The Supreme Court of Hawaii has ruled that unborn children are not “human beings,” and therefore women cannot be prosecuted for causing the death of babies by harmful behavior during their pregancies.

Full Story
I was going to go on a cruise to Hawaii next year, I think I will skip it now.

I see. So the baby was not a human being when the mom smoked crystal meth two days before his birth. But he was a human being when he was born with methamphetamine in his system, and was a human being at the time of his death two days later.

Being a human being is just so hard to pin down anymore.

What I find puzzling is that the says the unborn child is not a “human being”. I thought that what is usually argued is that the unborn child is not a “person”.

Does anyone have any insight into this?

It’s simply bull. The child grows in the womb and is therefore alive, a living thing. The child produces an imune system and so does the mother, that will only come about when something foreign is within the body to protect each other from themselves. Therefore the child’s body is it’s own and the mother’s body is different. So the argument that women make saying she can do whatever she wants with her own body does not apply to the child within her. It is not the same as her body. It is another body. If the woman so thinks that way she ought to wonder why 50% of the time the child is a male? The DNA in the children is of the same makeup as a fully grown adult. It simply hasn’t grown. People who argue for cloning need to use the adult DNA in an embryo to make a clone! It is human!

More indepth:
Is the unborn human less than human?
When does a human become a human?
