Well thank God for His grace in that ā to try to lead people away from Christ would certainly be a mortal sin. Glad youāre not going down that road.
RG, the problem is that people DONāT pay money for an act. They pay money hoping for something real. They pay money for information. Would God disown you for leading others astray by āplaying the partā of a pro-choice advocate outside an abortion clinic? After all, youāre a good Catholic, and youāre only playing a part, and itās all fake. But what about the people who are led astray because of your act? How can you possibly control the attitudes of those who will pay to see your act?
Then you should go to the RenFest next summer and stand near the āreadersā and watch and listen carefully to the people who are standing in line and those who are getting a reading. Notice their faces, listen in on their conversations. You will hear not the voices of faithful and fun-loving Christians who are willing to fork over their money for a bit of playful entertainment. You will hear the emptiness of those whose trust is not in God.
Look, you asked our opinion and I have given mine (twice), but it seems you have already made up your mind. If you havenāt talked to a faithful priest, I hope you do so.
Well, I know I sure would be open to talking about Druidism if I saw a Druid dressed up like a priest and giving āabsolutionā at the RenFest if he knew a little about the crucifix and the rosary. Yeah, thatād do it.
God bless you. And please, as one who was lost in the pain and emptiness of the occult for many years, consider carefully the damage you could do by āplaying a roleā of this nature. I made the choice to walk away from God, but those who opened the doors, whether they believed what they were saying or not, may still be culpable in the eyes of God for leading one of His little ones astray.
