Would it be sinful to own a laundromat that is open on Sundays with an attendant manning the store? Does it violate the 3rd Commandment (Thou shall keep holy the Sabbath day)?

It is not a life threatening necessity like hospitals, law enforcement, gas stations; but customers oftentimes do their laundry on Sundays.

Peace.

Not sinful for a laundromat to be open on Sunday. The attendant should be provided the opportunity to attend church, if he wishes.

I don’t believe so. A laundromat, like a gas station or convenience store, is a high volume business with a fairly necessary service.

No. How business is done today is not the same as it was hundred of years ago. Some businesses need to be open on Sundays to take adavantage of the prevailing market. Inadvertently it also gives services to those who need them on Sunday’s.

More importantly therefore is not to miss honouring the Lord on this day by going to the mass or at least prayers.

Sunday is not Sabbath but the Lord’s Day.

Just my two cents.

Are you asking if it would be wrong to require your attendant to work on Sundays?
