“I’ve seen things you people wouldn’t believe. Attack ships on fire off the shoulder of Orion. I watched c-beams glitter in the dark near the Tannhauser Gate. All those moments will be lost in time, like tears in rain. Time to die”.

Deus requiem ad meam.

I always liked Rutger Hauer in everything he was in, whether it was "Blade Runner’, ‘Ladyhawke’, or ‘Soldier of Orange’. A very solid character actor with matinee idol looks; he probably stole quite a few scenes from the rather laid-back Harrison Ford in ‘Blade Runner.’

Resquiat in Pacem.

He was great in the first movie called The Hitcher in 1986. A totally believable psychopath.

This makes me sad. I’ve liked him since I first saw him in Nighthawks opposite Stallone a year or so before Blade Runner came out. He played a terrorist Sly was hunting. He was also memorable as a psycho in The Hitcher and the vampire in the remake of Salems Lot. No matter the part, you could always count on him for an entertaining performance. He was the kind of actor who made weaker movies enjoyable. I saw he was working on new BBC retelling of A Christmas Carol where we was playing the ghost of Christmas future. It’s not clear if he completed his scenes yet though. That would be an awesome way to cap a career.

I loved Rutger! To me he had the most classic Germanic “look” of any actor…even his build. If you’ve never seen Lady Hawk, I, too, recommend it. A love story even the guys will love!

May he Rest In Peace and I thank him for making me drool like an idiot!

Me too! I’m not a fan of most RomComs or Titanic type stories at all. Perhaps it was the fantasy part of Lady Hawk or just that it was Rutger 😂😂😂 but I really enjoyed that movie. I loved him in Blade Runner as well…perhaps his best acting, though I’m not sure I’ve seen all his films.

I remember watching Lady Hawk with whole family and all of us…including teenage son…were grabbing Kleenex! My daughter was outright sobbing though it doesn’t take much for her to do that!

The most memorable part was of the monk telling Captain Navarre about God forgiving him and providing an opportunity for the spell which kept the couple apart, to be broken.

Also when the knight and the lady both turn human, enough time for them to look into each other’s eyes before one of them transforms.

Is Lady Hawk the one where the couple has been transformed into a hawk and wolf to keep them separated?

Yes. They are in animal form for either the day or night and human the other half…opposite each other. They only get a glimpse of each other as they transform at dawn or dusk.

He really does! I assume every woman that imagines her knight in shining armor has a picture in her head of someone similar to Rutger. 🤭🤭🤭. Tall, blonde, blue eyed, muscular build, a regal type presence even in rags. A typical Northern European icon if ever there was one.

Has anything been revealed as to the cause of his death other than an illness? I don’t need to know…I’d just like to. It’s not like any rumors of Ill health was suspected. He was still active recently.
