Many times I have felt a desire to receive this sacrament. My intentions have been to heal some of the damage done by sin. Maybe the effects sin has on me is more complex than I think. Certain things and temptations I am prone to seem to constantly come up, even in almost a cycle fashion. Forms of depression, anxiety probably have a part in it.
I am curious what the sacrament is intended for. What do people seek in it. Is it spiritual healing as well as physical? Your knowledge and or experience with this sacrament is very appreciated.

Thanks be to God,
Michael

Are you talking about Anointing of the Sick or Reconciliation? Both are considered sacraments of healing, though with different purposes. Reconciliation focuses more on our souls, while Anointing is aimed at physical and spiritual healing due to illness.

Yes, i mean Annointing of the sick. I kinda assume we should approach all sacraments reconciled of our sins first. But if we have a desire to heal from our sins fully, is this something we can benefit from in Annointing?

Thanks,
Michael

Michael, I would suggest talking to your priest and seeing how your parish does it. In one of the parishes I attended, it was announced at Mass that this sacrament would be administered to anyone who felt in need of it due to physical or mental illness, or addictions, etc.

I was just telling myself I need to talk to my pastor about it. Or maybe God telling me:rolleyes: It is good of you to suggest.

Thanks,
Michael

You are welcome. I have both physical and emotional illness and have received this sacrament several times either at Mass or at a separate service. I always felt very uplifted afterward.
