This is what happened: Went to confession then attended mass and had communion. The next day I remembered a couple of mortal sins I forgot to confess so I went back to confession and told the priest what happened. He told me those are already forgiven if I did not try to hide them…

So the basic question is this: Are ALL my sins forgiven when the priest absolves me, those remembered and those truly forgotten up until that very moment? A truly CLEAN SLATE?

Just want to confirm this is indeed true…

Yes, all your sins are forgiven, even those you truly forgot. Of course, if you remembered a mortal sin after Confession, you would have to confess it the next time you went to Confession.

Peace,
Linda

If you had forgot them yes they were forgiven. However, many priest suggest that if you remember a mortal sin, confess it at your next confession. I have discussed this with several priest and most concur.

The two answers that have already been posted are what I would have said too. As long as you’re sincere and not actively trying to hide anything, then you have nothing to worry about. God won’t hold something against you when you genuinely mean to confess all of your sins – He wants to forgive you. But like the others have said, if you remember a mortal sin, you should probably still mention it next time.
