"Sacraments at the Service of Communion"?

Our fifth grade “Faith First” religion book calls the sacraments of Holy Orders and Matrimony the “Sacraments at the Service of Communion”.

Has anyone ever heard of these sacraments categorized this way?

I’ve heard of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Eucharist, Confirmation) and the *Sacraments of Healing *(Confession, Annointing of the Sick), but never the category *“Sacraments at the Service of Communion”. *

It says to refer to the CCC 1533-1589 and 1601 - 1658 for “more information on the Sacraments at the Service of Communion”, but I never see this categorization mentioned (unless I missed it).

Is this a categorization used by the Church, or one made up by the publisher?

I would presume that he means the Communion of Saints (the people of the Church); not the Sacrament of Holy Communion.

In my teaching book, they are categorized as “The Sacraments of Service,” and the explanation is that it is within these two Sacraments that people are most greatly called to service in the Church - parents care for and serve each other and their children, always doing whatever is best for their children, and priests serve the people of the parish, always keeping in mind what is good for the parishioners.

It means the Sacraments that are for the Church or “Community”

Holy Orders builds up the Church Spiritually and Marriage builds up the Church physically.

Both are Sacraments where the recipients are to devote their lives to the service of others. In Holy Orders, the salvation of souls would be the commission in the most simplest of terms. In Matrimony, we are to serve one another and seek to walk hand in hand toward the salvation of our spouse.

My two cents.
