For those of you concerned about the state of the liturgy at your parish I strongly recommend the little book Sacred Signs by Fr. Romano Guardini. It’s available free on line here Sacred Signs.

Sometime I think we forget about how important the (really) small things can be – they add-up, and Fr. Guardini does a gorgeous job in reminding us…

Wow, thanks AltarMan! I gotta check this out.

I would also suggest people purchase his book “Spirit of the Liturgy.” It is short and simple but packed with great material. It is the inspiration of our Holy Father’s book under the same title.

I too have advocated this little book in other threads where specific topics covered in the book were discussed. One of the Canons at my parish highly recommended the book to me when I was doing a writing project and I found it very enlightening and interesting. This priest even discusses the roof, the hands, the doors and other things, explaining how they can be looked upon as sacred. It will get you thinking about your disposition with all that you do from walking through that door to under the roof, and dipping your hands in the holy water, kneeling and many other things.

Great, great book and I highly recommend it. I think it is only about 50 or 60 pages, but is packed.
