Hi, my birthday is the 8th of August, which is St. Dominic’s feast day. However I’m curious as to other saints who were born on that date.
If anyone knows, or knows of some way I could find out, that would be great.

P.S I have googled it without success. 🙂

A saint’s feast day is usually the day (s)he died, not the date of birth. There are a few notable exceptions; for St. Benedict, there’s the feast of his death (March 21) and of his birth (July 11), same with Saint John the Baptist.

Saint Dominic’s exact birth date isn’t known. He died on Aug. 6 but his feast is on the 8th in the current calendar.

Thanks for the reply but I’m trying to find a Saint with that date as their birth date. 🙂

that’s going to be harder…birthdays in heaven are what are celebrated in the church as feasts.

This is a comprehensive list…but again, Saints are listed by their date of death. Most of the time, their birthdays are unknown, but as they are renowned for their lives, their date of death was noted. saints.sqpn.com/calendar-of-saints/

Birthdates! Death dates!

It must feel encouraging if you know you were born on a date that a saint was born on. Especially if you are young.

I’ve always used the death dates, but I am on the other side of the hill. When I was 55, I chose my “memento mori” day, i.e., my future death date, out of a hat. Not that I thought I was going to actually DIE on THAT day, but I figured I would die on one of the 366 days a year might offer, and to use that day to remind me I was gonna die someday. I was in good health at the time.

The day was Oct 10th, and I had to scrounge around to find a saint. He isn’t on the normal Roman Calendar (grrrrr) (growl) (hiss) but he surfaced on the traditional calendar for 10/10: Saint Francis Borgia-Aragon.

So I prayed for him to help me with my memento mori. (St. Borgia-Aragon actually died Sept 30, but that day belongs to a real old timer, St. Jerome.) And prayed to him for a good death etc… Every October 10 I wear my memento Mori pin.

Anyway, I got an incurable illness of which I am now dying at the age of 61. I expect I’ve got
two or three more months, and no way will I hold out till October! But I still use St. Francis Borja-Aragon as my memento mori patron. I’ve got his picture in my pictures on my home page here. Dressed pretty! And had 8 kids. Then his wife died and he became a priest. Still, having lead a lay life, I like that!:D

St. John Paul II was not put on April 2 his death date due to the possibility of Holy Week/Easter conflicting with it. It ws instead put on October 22, the anniversary of his papal inauguration.

Saint Cyriacus (Fourth Century): he was a deacon of the Church of Rome and was imprisoned and beheaded along with several others. He is one of the fourteen Holy Helpers and is invoked against eye diseases. March 16th was the day he died, but his body was enshrined on August 8th.

Blessed Mary MacKillop (1909): she was born in Australia and there founded the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart to educate especially the children of Australia’s outback. She was very kind and is Australia’s first to be beatified.

BTW, these are patron saints of August 8th, they may not have been born that day. But, more importantly this is their patron saint day!
