I was watching EWTN last night and caught the end of one of those mini Saint biographies they do between shows. This one was about Saint Brigitta. They talked about her 5 interior and 5 exterior ways to be Holy. I have Googled it, looked on EWTN, and I haven’t been able to find out anything more about it. I remember one of the things was to keep hands busy doing work for the glory of God. Does anyone have any information about this philosophy?

I would love some further information on this as well, PM me if you find out anything. I’ve just been looking on the internet and there are her writings in Latin, can’t find anything in English though. perhaps someone out there can help?

I accidentally came across this site: Prophesies and Revelations of Saint Brigitta, and I thank Our Heavenly Lord for willing it! I think you may find what you are looking for. They have 5 complete books so far, and partials on the other 7. I hope that this helps. Take care and God Bless.

The little booklet from TAN called, ‘The Fifteen Prayers of St. Bridget of Sweden’ can change your life forever if you pray them.

*The first revelation in the Book of Questions made to Lady Birgitta by the Virgin Mary, in which the Virgin Mary informs her of five virtues that she ought to have within herself and of five others without. *

Book 5 - Revelation 1

The Mother speaks: “Daughter, you should have five attributes within you and five without. First without: a mouth pure from backbiting, ears closed to vain speech, chaste eyes, hands busy with good works, and the avoidance of dealings with the world. Within you should have these five: loving God fervently, desiring him wisely, distributing temporal goods reasonably with a just and upright intention, fleeing from the world humbly, and awaiting my promises steadfastly and patiently.”
