The point is it doesnt matter, and if your intent is to shame or bully Catholics into receiving my mouth, you are uncharitable at best…end of story…nada…fini…im out!

I know that what you are posting is true. My Aunt is a devout Catholic, now nearly ninety, her son is an older priest, and she explained how Communion in the hand came about, yes from disobedience. I have seen in one particular parish, people, while chewing gum, head up to receive Communion. I have also seen people, with Communion in their hand, drop it on the carpet as they walk away. Now the priest has picked it up - this happened twice in a month. It’s just very upsetting. It may be only a few who are irreverent, but I truly believe Communion on the tongue given by consecrated hands is reverence due to Our Lord. This is not to offend anybody who is sincere and reverent, and careful with hands, but the Host must be protected.

Yes, those things and others are reasons why the Church chose to make receiving on the tongue the norm. The mishandling of the Host is a genuine concern.

The point in me posting those individual posts by myself on this thread is right there in black and white for anyone to read.

I credit you for putting this information out, and don’t understand all this anger by Catholics. It’s not about us, or our preferences.

Thanks, providing information and the truth of how CITH came to be reintroduced was my only intention.

I just get frustrated when those who point out CITH is allowed won’t even acknowledge or express any interest and how or why it was reintroduced. But denying it doesn’t make it go away or means it never happened.

But, it’s not right for someone who prefers COTT to judge those who prefer CITH. For some of those who prefer CITH, it’s all they’ve ever known.

I’ve always wondered about the accounts of Hosts being found on the floor, in pews, and elsewhere. Why would someone go up to receive Communion with no intention of consuming it ? The only reason I can think of is they are worried about what others would think of them if they did not get in line to receive. If that’s the case it’s very troubling that they would be more concerned with that, than respect for the Most Blessed Sacrament.

Anyhow thank you again for seeing the information I posted on the issue as informative rather than judgemental. That was indeed my intent.

God bless

It’s really sad that a thread on St Faustina became the same old hand vs mouth …

Well, it is always questionable to mix analogies. A private revelation, especially a kind of vision, can be quite valid, but not in any way intended as a guide to dogma or pastoral practice.

The Diary of St. Faustina is a mixture of approved private revelation and spiritual guide. I love it, but it should not be used for what it was not intended to be. It is intended to touch my heart, personally; and it does.

Funny. On thread after thread after thread about Marian apparitions, and the messages the seers received, you go way out of your way to stress the point that this is nothing more than “private revelation.” Please do explain the difference here!

Allow me, if you please, to make a general statement here.

I read the Diary almost every day. I love it. I am active in a ministry committed to this saint’s devotion to Mercy. The other people I know who are committed to this devotion tend to be older, and very well formed in public revelation. In fact, the people I know who are committed to other private devotions also tend to be older, and well formed in the doctrine of the Church.

People who have a solid foundation (public revelation) can build on that foundation, sometimes encouraged or enriched by approved private revelation. I saw this in the early days of the Catholic Charismatic Renewal, as well. The problem I saw later in the Charismatic Renewal seminars is that we were getting younger people who never got doctrinal foundation, even though they went to Catholic schools. We were trying to teach renewal, without any foundation.

Because doctrinal ignorance and confusion is so rampant today, we need to commit all our attention, at least with young people, to foundation building. We may be entering a season when private revelation will need to take a much smaller place than it did before, until we restore the fullness of doctrinal knowledge to the great number of Catholics.
