Last night I woke from a dream with a Father Flanigan though I do not recall what it was about. When I woke, while still feeling ‘dreamy’, I had what seemed like Father Flanigan speaking in my head (like my thoughts but not mine) and he told me not to be afraid. His words were regarding an Angel in the room and I then felt the presense of a large and strong spirit. I was not afraid and at peace. I thought about the experience for a minute and then drifted off to sleep again.

I am posting because I do not know of any Saint named Flanigan. I thought the Monsignor from WWII at the Vatican was named Flanigan but I do not know.

Has anyone heard of a Saint named Flanigan?

Father Flanigan is the famous founder of the orphanage Boys Town, who believed there are no bad boys. I read the book years ago and think of him as another St. John Bosco. I’m not sure whether or not he is beatified, but I remember being inspired by his holy life and charity to youth. I have also read the life of George Mueller who also founded many orphanages in the UK. His story is utterly inspiring, and my secret dream is to follow in these three men’s footsteps in some manner.

Thanks Joysong that must be him. I have the movie of Father Flanigan too though I saw it once some months ago.

Thanks!!!

And my thanks to you, Jack! I remember viewing this movie many years ago, after seeing Spencer Tracy in the write-up. It would give me a lot of joy and perhaps inspiration, too, to watch the film again.

Maybe the Lord is speaking to you in some way through this dream. It would be wise to pray and discern if God is preparing you for some type of future ministry.

Prayers going up . . .

You posts are like your name.

Your insight is true and I will add that I have been discerning whether or not I am to be a Deacon.

God Bless

Wonderful, Jack 👍 … and may God speak to your heart and help you hear His voice, no matter where He may be leading you. Perhaps even as a Deacon, you will exercise your duties to a large extent with youth. Heaven knows, that is one area of the Church’s ministry that many have expressed concern for more leadership.

Carole

And thanks for your other kindness! :o
