Today (September 18) is the feast day of Saint Joseph of Cupertino. His story is very inspiring for those of us who feel like we can’t do anything right.

This is a wonderful little movie from 1962 about his life:

I really love this movie. I’ve watched it many times.

Saw it recently on Turner Classic Movies. A good one.

St. Joseph’s story is a good humbling message for us all … especially if we’ve ever underestimated anyone. And we have.

I loved the part where to be a priest he had to pass a rigorous scholastic test. And miraculously the questions posed to him were on the one subject he was expert in (man set barriers, God made a way).

Like many other saints he faced opposition, even from some of his confreres.

His childlike rapturous devotions that accompanied his levitating from the ground while in spiritual ecstasy reminded me that … like children … such is the kingdom of heaven!
