How true are the pope prochecys of Saint Malachy? And if they are true than according to him there will only be one more pope, does this mean the end of the world is soon?

Hey everyone,
How true are the pope prochecies of Saint Malachy? I was reading the list and it said we only had one more pope to go according to him. Does this mean the end of the world is soon?
 
Jesus said no-one knows the day or hour of his return - not even Himself, only the Father! Him not knowing, how could anyone on earth possibly know?

So I wouldn’t place faith in anyone or anything purporting to tell us that the end of the world is upon us anytime soon. People in every generation since the time of Christ have been convinced that it was imminent - they were all wrong. So are we likely to be if we go down the same path.

Love God, live as worthy a life as you can, and prepare for the fact that you could be face to face with Him at any moment - and probably will be, well before His return!

It seems they are contested as to authenticity. They do indeed state this, but the descriptions of the popes are so vague, they could imply anything. If they are valid their meanings could concealed, or made to fit what seems approriate. There’s certainly speculation about this.

there are a couple interesting links to find out more about this, but ultimately the concesus seems to be that we cannot know unless the prophecy is fulfilled, at which time we will know, until then we just wait in joyful hope of the return of our LORD JESUS CHRIST.

They’re a lot like fortunes on fortune cookies- they are so vague it’s pretty easy to fit any person into the prophesy.
 
I was just doing a little research on St. Malachy and stumbled across prophecyofstmalachy.com from a link on Wikipedia. Doesn’t look like it’s written from a Catholic perspective, but it’s an interesting read. I’m glad I found this thread as well. I’m going to go back and read your comments.
