Why is he venerated so amongst the Greeks? Should we venerate him? Any prayers, devotions, info on him?
Thanks for your help!

Saint Nektarios is a wonderworker. Many miracles have been reported from those who knew him during his lifetime, and now his intercession still results in wonders.

His writings and teachings during his life had inspired many, and still does.

He is most known throughout the Orthodox world for composing the hymn “Agni Parthene”

The Melkite Catholic Church does venerate him as well.

The Foo Fighters are set to melt some faces at this year’s BlizzCon, as Blizzard Entertainment has announced that the world-famous rockers will be headlining the convention’s closing ceremony concert. With the new Raid Finder imminent in patch 4.3 my thoughts concerning World of Warcraft lately have been heavy with the gravitas between the ever increasing divide between “casual” and “hardcore” players. I’ve touched upon this before in previous articles but never before has the issue been such an honest-to-Old Gods slap in the face to the hardcore crowd. With the Raid Finder we may be on the advent of a truly new age on the MMO timeline, an age where the long held elite content becomes the homogenised grind fodder of the masses.

Do RC’s pray to Orthodox Saints? What I mean is, is this admissable by the church? If so, you would greatly benefit from praying the Akathist to St. Nektarios. You can google it. I had the blessed opportunity years ago to visit the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral in Atlanta while the relics of St. Nektarios were visiting that Church, and we prayed the Akathist and then were anointed with oil from the lamp that burns perpetually at his tomb. It was an amazing experience that I will never forget. I remember this one old greek lady who could barely walk, was helped to the ambo and then she kneeled and with tears in her eyes was anointed by Metropolitan Alexios himself with the oil. It was such a beautiful thing to see. May God, through the intercessions of Our Father among the Saints Nektarios, have mercy on us and save us!

Yes we do. Although some saints who have anti-Catholic stances (like St. Mark of Ephesus) are obviously omitted.

edit: Ooops, I see you said RCs, not ECs. But I believe RCs can venerate saints who did not take an anti-Catholic stance in their life. It will be a private devotion.

Do RC’s pray to Orthodox Saints?
St Paul is a Catholic and an Orthodox saint, as are many others – so, yes!

But I think I know what you mean. I’d guess that any saint from the first thousand years could be venerated by both RC and Orthodox. Still, there must be EC saints that the OC also venerates that are later. 🤷

I have not been able to find any official pronouncement from the Melkite Holy Synod recognizing the canonization of St. Nectarios nor adding him into the Melkite liturgical calendar.
