The statue of St Oscar Romero at Westminster Abbey .
Westminster Abbey is a protestant church, so I guess his reputation transcended Catholicism, and has for a while. I don’t think the statue was sculpted last week.

Westminster Abbey is an Anglican collegiate sanctuary, under the jurisdiction of the British Sovereign. It’s not a “Protestant church.”

I’m not sure when the statue was installed - maybe about 20 years ago? - but Oscar Romero stands along side of other Christian martyrs of the 20th Century, such as Martin Luther King, Jr, Dietrich Bonhoeffer, Esther John, and Wang Zhiming. He is much respected by so many people inside and outside of the Christian faith.

How is it not Protestant?
And how is it not a church?
Don’t split hairs.
The fact that it is “under the British sovereign” is irrelevant, except for highlighting that it’s not under the Catholic church.

Thank you @Rob2 for bringing this article to our attention. I feel blessed to have had the opportunity to visit the home of now St. Oscar Romero and the chapel on the hospital grounds where he lived and died. I was able to do this by way of a Mission Awareness Trip through a charity called Christian Foundation for Children and Aging, now known as Unbound.

I watched his beatification on live stream internet a few years ago. The crowd was joyous and it was elevating to watch. The service was colorful and at the end, a rainbow circled the sun!
