Saint Paul said being tossed to and fro by every wind of doctrine

This is a problem even today.
What have you been tossed by every wind of doctrine?

This is why it’s important to remain in the Barque of Peter, so as to not be tossed to and fro by every wind of false doctrine.

Extra Ecclesiam nulla Salus

I mean no disrespect to our Protestant friends, but isn’t that protestantism in a nutshell? How can they all claim to be biblical Christianity, and yet contradict each other on some very important issues? Is baptism important, or is it not? Should whichever denomination accept abortion and gay marriage, because that’s what mainline Protestants tend to be doing lately? How should they understand the Lord’s Supper? Is it symbolic or something else? This is why I’m Catholic, there’s a final say, it’s not just every man deciding what the Bible says for himself.

As others have pointed out this is not a problem in the Catholic Church. The reason why this does not apply to Catholics is right their in the text.

Back up to verse 8.
“When he ascended on high he led a host of captives,
and he gave gifts to men.”
This tells us that Jesus gave men gifts WHEN he ascended. If we read about Jesus ascension we can see who these men are Jesus Apostles…

The Commissioning of the Disciples
16 Now the eleven disciples went to Galilee, to the mountain to which Jesus had directed them. 17 And when they saw him they worshiped him; but some doubted. 18 And Jesus came and said to them, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. 19 Go therefore and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you; and lo, I am with you always, to the close of the age.”

Now if we jump back to Ephesians we see what these gifts are…
11 And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,
Now when we get to verse 14 we can understand that St. Paul is telling us Jesus gave us a Church with gifted men who are our apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers. If we follow these guides, we will no longer be tossed to and fro by cunning men, who twist doctrine using their deceitful wiles. For Catholics it’s always been easy, if someone bring a contrary teaching throughout History the Fathers of the Church would simply say nope sorry, the Church throughout the entire world from the beginning disagrees with you.

That’s why I love being Catholic. I’m not afraid of any question out their. We can have confidence that in 2000 years their isn’t a single objection that the Catholic Church hasn’t already answered. Her doctrine is sound we don’t have to worry about being tossed to and fro.

If you feel like someone is tossing you to and fro just ask them to show you their line of authority back to these men that Jesus gifted.

God Bless

EQUAL [=] thousands of Protestant churches each with it’s OWN freely chose set of Faith beliefs:thinking:

Dear Lord, Help them find YOUR Truth

“Have nothing to do with the pointless philosophical discussions and antagonistic beliefs of the ‘knowledge’ which is not knowledge at all; by adopting this, some have gone right away from the faith. Grace be with you.” [1 Timothy 6 20-21]
“The time is sure to come when, far from being content with sound teaching, people will be avid for the latest novelty and collect themselves a whole series of teachers according to their own tastes; and instead of listening to the truth, they will turn to myths.” [2 Timothy 3:3-5]
