Dearest Subjects of Christ,
In the Monte region of Rome stands the Column of Trajan. It was built to celebrate the Emperor Trajan’s conquest of ancient Dacia (His Highness is unimpressed) and it is a marvel of engineering (The Realm believes this site has some excellent artists’ renditions of its original glory).
Standing atop the column was once a golden figure of the pagan conqueror, but it was replaced by the Popes with a statue of St. Peter during the Renaissance improvements to the Eternal City. It is good to meditate on the truth that all of the kingdoms of the world were offered to Christ by the lying Prince of the World, and none of them still stand. What Peter brought to the Urbs conquered the conquerors.
