Saint Peter's tomb in Jerusalem

I have visited at least two websites in the internet saying that Saint Peter’s tomb was discovered somewhere in Jerusalem. The urls are the following:

biblebelievers.org.au/nl373.htm

According to these sites, the tomb of Saint Peter in Rome is a hoax, that the discovery of Peter’s tomb in Jerusalem was being covered up by the Vatican, that several priests in Jerusalem authenticated the discovery…

They even accused Saint Jerome of deliberately altering the works of Eusebius, that “he added a fantastic story of Peter’s residence in Rome”. Based on the discovery, they concluded that Peter was never the first bishop of Rome, and consequently, the popes were not really the successors of Peter…

I hope somebody will help me regarding this. I’m really, really, confused at this matter…

I would say it is fantastic if these detractors will say that St. Jerome has altered each and every work by the early Church Fathers that refers to Peter being in Rome. As for the alleged Jerusalem tomb itself, I think others here can help you out regarding that.

That’s a great work of fiction with fake priests to make it look real… That’s why nobody wanted to lay claim they own that tomb place. Just another Da Vinci Code wannabe

St Peter’s bones were found buried under St Peter’s Basilica some years ago.
Do not lend an ear to the pagan and the foolish, our Faith is strong and needs NO evidence (even tho’ there is plenty)

Don’t let them hoodwink you. The second site is nothing more than a copy and paste of the first one and that is a Seventh Day Adventist Anti-Catholic site that has about as little credibility as one can have.

The fact is that the remains of St. Peter were found under the altar in St. Peter’s Basilica during some work there during the 2nd World War, where church history had always said that he was.Catholic Encyclopedia article and Yes, Peter Was In Rome (The ECF).

Even if that find were not there, that would not change the fact that St.Peter was martyred in Rome. If that was the case then why would his remains have been taken somewhere else for burial, that makes no sense. Tradition has always said that his grave was on Vatican hill.

Finally, you cannot trust anything that those two sites offer since they have a vitriolic agenda to discredit Catholicism. The 7th Day Adventists are one of the worst of the lot and I have personally read some of their stuff and wasted time making notes on the historical and Biblical inaccuracies that they teach.

The center of the dome of St Peter, if plumbed down is directly where they found his bones. The design of the basilica is centered around the geological positon of where St. Peter was buried.

Revisionists and Deconstructionists are in denial of this.
