The memory of Veronica’s act of charity is commemorated in the Stations of the Cross.
St. Veronica is the kind woman who wipes the face of the Lord Jesus with a veil while he was on the way to Cavalry.
According to tradition, the cloth was imprinted with the image of Christ’s face.
Station Six of The Stations of the Cross is Veronica wipes the face of Jesus.
Veronica wiped the dust and blood off Christ’s face.

Saint Veronica was outstanding when she showed compassion to Jesus on Good Friday.
What do you think about showing kindness spontaneously?

As often as possible, and necessary if you are a Christian .:🙂

Yes, Veronica impressed me as a child ,enough to take her name in confirmation .

Wonderful Saint Veronica, who is the embodiment of compassion! I really try to follow this example, and Christ’s example. I try to show love towards those who need it most. At times the ego can get in the way. Perhaps I don’t want to be inconvenience or have run out of patience, but Saint Veronica is the ultimate reminder for me!

Prayer to St. Veronica
St. Veronica, you gave Christ a towel on His way to Cavalry which He used to wipe the Precious Blood from His Holy Face. In return for this great act of kindness He left you His most Holy image on the towel. Pray for us to Our Lord that His Holy Face may be imprinted on our hearts so that we may be always be mindful of the Passion and Death of Our lord Jesus Christ, through the same Christ our Lord,
Amen.

St. Veronica Prayer to the Sacred Image of Jesus Christ
O My Jesus, Saint Veronica served You on the way to Calvary by wiping Your beloved face with a towel on which Your sacred image then appeared. She protected this treasure, and whenever people touched it, they were miraculously healed. I ask her to pray for the growth of my ability to see Your sacred image in others, to recognize their hurts, to stop and join them on their difficult journeys, and to feel the same compassion for them as she did for You. Show me how to wipe their faces, serve their needs, and heal their wounds, reminding me that as I do this for them, I also do this for You. Saint Veronica, pray for me. Amen.

I suppose it is our duty.
After all the duty of Jesus, chosen of course, was to love His Father. Since Love to me, is defined as not an emotion, but doing the will of the one you love, or the thing you love, then kindness is love, because doing the will of someone else who wants kindness, fulfilling the commandment of God, To Love your neighbor as you love yourself, is a command, then it is our duty. So, spontaneous kindness, is our duty.
LOVE and love,
…Katerina.,

The name “Veronica” comes from the Latin Vero Icone.
Vero Icone
translated to English is true image of Jesus Christ.

The tradition of Veronica with her veil wiping the face of Jesus is my favorite station. I don’t know why. There is something so touching in contrast to the brutality being shown to Jesus.

I am a convert so I have not prayed the rosary my whole life and I didn’t realize until 2 years ago that this story is tradition and not in the Bible.

Saint Veronica was mentioned in the reported visions of Jesus by Sister Marie of St. Peter, a Carmelite nun who resided in Tours, France.
Sister Marie started the devotion to the Holy Face of Jesus.

Thanks for the information. 🙂

Saint Veronica’s symbol is the veil bearing the face of Christ and the Crown of Thorns.

How did this tradition arise because there is absolutely no mention of Veronica in the Bible wiping the face of Jesus.

In the 13th century text and in some later sources the term Veronica was used for the veil, not the woman.

Saint Veronica is the patron saint of photographers and laundry workers.
