Whats your opinion of saints that levitate, biolocate, and other things? like how would i be able to verify that the saint, what he is doing specifically is valid. Based off the phenomena.

I just want to remind you all that i am going through this with caution because of the fact that the devil can do this. If possible just give me several tips.

Padre pio is a good example of levitation and so is st francis so lets start there what do you guys think?

If a true pope declares a person who levitates, bilocates, etc. to be a saint and canonizes them, then we can rest assured that their levitations, etc. were supernatural, caused by God and not Satan. If a true pope does not investigate and canonize some mystic, then we can’t know for sure if there was any diabolic cause behind their leviations, etc… There was once a woman who was reputed a saint; she did extraordinary things like levitate or something of the sort. He name was Sr. ____ of the Cross (I can’t remember her full name.). At one point it was discovered that she had made a pact with the devil and this is why she had been able to levitate, etc… Saints who have extraordinary experiences are genuinely holy, unlike fakes who are possessed by the devil. God bless you.

You are thinking of Sr Magdalena of the Cross

There is a lot more information about her here

But remember, Padre Pio was not canonized on account of ability to bilocate or levitate. He was canonized on account of his holy life. In fact, as far as I know, the Church does not even say whether or not it is true that he bilocated.

I think their is a brief list of things you can go through
  1. Are they faithful? Are they heretics or espousing strange doctrine?
  2. Are they boastful? I mean did you walk in on them praying and levitating by accident or are they telling everyone about it?
  3. Are they mortified? St John of the Cross added this as one of his tests. If they are not a mortified person and love luxury and pleasure then it is a bit suspicious how they are conforming to the Cross of Christ.

If the Church says a Saint is a Saint then we don’t have to worry. The Church scrutinizes such things. In the case of St. Pio and St. Francis, they both received the Stigmata, which is a sign of an intensely close relationship between the saint and God. The other thing is that as Christians we can’t be possessed, only oppressed, because of our Baptism. In order to levitate off the ground one would ‘presumably’ have to be possessed. The only way this could happen for a baptised Christian is if the person sold their soul, so to speak, to the devil. But one of the reasons saints were saints would have been due to a certain humility and so in the case of where a Saint has been given that honorary title we can safely be assured that miracles confirmed and attributed to them are true because as another poster mentioned, a lot of the time they did not feel worthy, or they felt ashamed. Levitating off the ground would have been a private occasion between saint and God but someone may have noticed and recorded the event. I don’t think as a rule saints are boastful people, due to grace, but sometimes have a duty to record their lives for the benefit of others.

🙂

so other saints, especially pio who have bilocated, and other miracles during his life in a way(look it up) are all good honestly?

i read somewhere you can tell if the person is from god if they have obedience what does that mean?

Not sure what you’re asking (first paragraph).

Obedience to God who has at times instructed for them to do something or request something and trust that whatever it is will bear fruit even when the circumstances look unlikely to do so; obedience to Rome; obedience to a Superior.

Hi. Thanks for these links.

The second link is fine, don’t see any problems. From intense scrutiny from the Catholic Church Saints such as Pio and other saints who received suffering, have had miracles approved. Saints are by definition people who lived extremely holy lives and so by this very fact unfastens any claim that more serious and continued suffering inflicted upon them was diabolically-orchestrated. Satan did sometimes attack the Saints, as has been recognised, and Pio himself was physically abused by the devil but this also shows, in the case of saints, a closeness to God. God allowed them to undergo these attacks. The closer people are to God much of the time they will suffer more. These ‘signs’ may be signs from God, or trickery from the devil, but this link does not examine cases in detail so remains less than factual or beneficial. For instance, it says that visions can be from the devil - nothing new - and vision can be from God. It is easy to tell them apart because the ones from God will often predict the future, if not always, but the devil cannot do that. It is too hard to separate though some cases about what is evil intent because of what I said about the saint often suffering for God anyway - God allowing them to suffer - and this suffering can be inflicted by the devil. But possession is something entirely different.

It comes down to faith and trust also. We know that St. Francis and St. Pio were holy men by the lives they touched and the fruit they bore with their witness to Christ. We know from this, and the Church’s position, that certain miracles such as the stigmata etc…were real. People’s testimonys count as does authentication from the Vatican. This is all we need. This is obedience!

how about this? this is about redemptive suffering, i was wondering the authenticity of it as well, i asked god while i was looking at the bible if this is true and it said yes twice, but i do know the catholic church is shaky on this are perhaps? Just skim it and tell me what you think?

Also is what padre pio prophesised about the “3 days of darkness” credible?

This is unrelated but i just need someone to tell it is ok…

It would be better if someone who knows about Pio’s prophesy responds to your post. You could also ask an apologist because having an expert explain to you in a clear way might help to make way for you then to be able to concentrate on your own faith rather than saint’s apparitions and what-not. I really think just accept what the Church teaches and concentrate on the main messages from the lives of the saints as this will help you more. And to be honest with you, I don’t want to motivate you anyway, because I think that it can be a road to problems when we starting contemplating the devil’s possible work when trying to work these things ourtfor ourselves. Stick to the Church! If the Church has authenticated various miracles, which it has, then be happy and have hope! Better to focus on doing good and trying to be good (which is hard enough without the devil’s (name removed by moderator)ut as it is!).🙂

However, one point, without even reading this is: all suffering is redemptive if we offer it up - natural suffering, suffering inflicted by others, even things we have caused which have had bad consequences - if we confess, and offer it up, we learn - so something to remember! 👍

Was there something concerning Our Lady that you were enquiring about?

I do advise asking an apologist for further enquiry!

I agree with friardchips.

Sometimes we’re so fixated to the mysticism instead of the message and how it will bring us closer to God.

I was first introduced to Padre Pio by a priest I know, and it was 2 years ago but I never really look him up, up until recently. I do alot of reading on the internet, and now reading the second book on Padre Pio (pray, hope, and don’t worry by Diane Allen). At first I was a bit worried that I might love him more than Jesus, and I was very wrong. Padre Pio’s love for Jesus and Mary are contagious!

In the book, someone asked Padre Pio to bilocate, but he said he couldn’t just bilocate because he didn’t have the permission from Jesus. If he bilocated, it was the will of God, not his. He always attributed everything to the Lord. When people thanked him for miracles they recieved, he always said that it was not him, it was the Lord, and asked them to thank the Lord instead. And he also asked his fellow monks and others to pray for him, despite all the graces he had recieved. He would get upset when someone had the thought of offending the Lord and the Blessed Virgin. The humility and the obedience to the God, are things that we can follow and reflect 🙂

God bless you!

ILoveJesus, you and I seem to have a lot in common lately…

I somehow happened upon the “3 days of darkness” prophesy while shopping online b/c someone was selling a 3-day beeswax candle to prepare for it.

I have had the same questions as you: what must I believe regarding private revelations. I have found it confusing to consider some revelations by saints - should I believe or not? They are canonized after all… I am glad to have gotten some clarification here thanks to your questions.

Btw, what I found out also, is that there is some difference of opinion regarding Padre Pio and that particular prophesy. Some say he never wrote about it; that the document(s) were a forgery. However, there were other canonized saints who obviously did prophecy about it.

For me, such things are a question about how it can increase my faith, and how it will benefit my walk with the Lord. Generally, if a private revelation increases my faith, illuminates some sin of my own, leads me closer to the Lord, and enables me to gracefully carry my crosses, then it is a benefit to me. If it does not do this, then the Lord may not be asking me to consider it - I simply pray about it instead.

This is also true of how we are personally led spiritually. I have seen the Lord influence my life in profound ways - there was no question that the grace was from God. Otoh, I have seen myself influenced demonically too; the fruit being one of fear and paranoia and despair. Supernatual signs and phenomena obviously are not all from God, and I don’t think any person - canonized saint or not - is immune from some encounter with the supernatural. We should never lose sight of the reality that there is a battle for our souls. But thank God we have a heavenly army to help us with that battle, and:
… nothing can ever separate us from God’s love. Neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither our fears for today nor our worries about tomorrow—not even the powers of hell can separate us from God’s love. No power in the sky above or in the earth below—indeed, nothing in all creation will ever be able to separate us from the love of God that is revealed in Christ Jesus our Lord.
(Romans 8:38,39)

AMEN!😃

I know that it is not bilocations, levitations, etc. that make a person a saint or make them canonized a saint; I know that what makes a person canonized a saint is a life lived with heroic virtue. I was not saying that extraordinary gifts make a person a saint, so you have misunderstood me if you think that I did.
