Saints on the Jewish Temple as representing the interior life

I heard that St. Francis de Sales, in his book, Treatise on the Love of God, likened the human to the Jewish Temple, with the courts, sanctuary, and Holy of Holies to various aspects and states of one’s interior life. I was wondering how in-depth does he go on this? Does he mention this in any of his other works? And have any other Saints commented on this analogy?
