Below is a project I did at college exploring the presence of God and the Heavenly host on the Parisian metro - please tell me what you think.

I have some more images based on a similar theme if you’d like to see them.

I’m a Catholic design student interested in exploring new ways of communicating our faith. Thanks!: )

Dear friend

I find your images very inspiring. It brings two things to mind, one all are to strive to be a saint, so we never know when we are standing next to a living saint! Two, in the bustle of life we are very quick to forget the presence of God because we are swept up in living and doing without turning our minds to Him as we do so, we forget Jesus is on the tube with us and standing in the street with us, all the time, everywhere, everyday.

I really like your work and yes I would be interested to view more of them in this thread.

If only instead of constant adverts and billboards we could see the face of Jesus in their place to remind us of Him and call us to recollect Him and our lives to Him throughout the day…now that would be something!! I have often thought how I would like to have the face of Jesus etched into my mind so I could see Him before my eyes constantly.

I studied Graphic Design/Illustration for 3 years and the majority of my work was Catholic religious images/imagry, it was a great way to explore and express my faith.

Personally I think your work has great potential. May God Bless you and inspire your talent and work

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

p.s. another aspect to these images is that sometimes we are prone to feeling isolated in faith and these images in a world detached from faith are very consoling in this sense…hmm…yes I like them, I like them very much. I think I would like to see you use your own images/paintings of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Jesus, saints rather than use another artists interpretation.

I really like the ones on the platform, the “preaching” ones. The first one just seemed a little odd a bit.

One idea would be to take a pic of a crowded train and stick a saint inbetween all sorts of people.

I like your idea though, its different

many thanks for your nice words of encouragement : )

The main message of this series is, like you say Springbreeze, in this violently paced modern world it’s so easy to forget that God and his saints are all around us. The metro is so dry and lifeless it is especially hard to believe that God is present.

Can I see some of your religious work from your Graphic Design/ Illustration course please? : )

I also did this image of St Simeon Stylites in the reflection of a metro window (more abstract than the earlier works). George Lamb has written a wonderful article on the importance of St Simeon’s message in the modern world that I recommend unreservedly.

Dear friend

For some reason it won’t let me copy and paste my paintings across.

I will PM you with them and try there if that is OK

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Dear friend

I have emailed you a couple of my paintings. Thanks for the mail address, there was no way it would let me copy and paste across even in PM.

Thank you

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

these are soooo cool! I really like the preaching ones! great job 👍

Absolutely wonderful. You can inspire many! Dont stop what you are doing!

This image is of the Virgin with Christ in a shopping trolley.

Some people think that this image says something irreverent, i.e. religion is all about money, ‘selling God’. However, what I wanted to say was that Mary and Jesus were normal people just like us and would have gone to the supermarket too if the Incarnation happened now rather than 2000 years ago. Anyway, what do you think?

many thanks
Leo
