When I was watching women’s figure skating I noticed what looked like a kabalah (sp?) string on Sasha Kohen (sp?) wrist. Did any one else notice this?

I noticed it and wondered about the Kabala thing too. It could be something else too though. When my husband and I were adopting from China we wore a red ribbon around our wrists to represent our connection to our little girl in China (red is the color of happiness in China).

It’s a Kabbalah bracelet, but she doesn’t really have any specific religious beliefs.

here are the parts regarding religion from the above mentioned q&a:

“I was wondering whether your religion was an important part of who you are today?
– Jordan, Chicago, IL
I’m not religious. I wouldn’t say that I’m really quite spiritual either. I just am. I believe in positive energy, and what goes around comes around, but I’m not religious except to celebrate holidays.”

“Was that a Kabbalah bracelet you were wearing at Nationals?
– Julia, Santa Barbara, CA
Yeah, Evan Lysacek tied it on for me. I’m not deeply into Kabbalah, but I appreciate the principles of it, to ward off evil and not think negative thoughts about people. I had a Kabbalah string before this one and it fell off – which is good luck. Johnny Weir tied that one on me the year before.”

slightly off topic, but Sasha is my favorite female skater, and she was really beautiful in this Olympics! There is no one who can skate like she does.

Same here. I was really rooting for her!! Hey, maybe if that Kabalah bracelet was a rosary bracelet…😉

Sasha is Jewish. So it makes sense that she might find Kaballah interesting. I love her skating…And its sasha Cohen with a C. What’s cool is that Cohen’s are descendants from the high priestly line…

I was actually rooting for the Russians in the other skating events. But I can’t think of anyone who skates more beautifully than Sasha Cohen. Her line, extension, and expression are top rate. Irina Slutskaya is very good, but she is more of an energetic skater, fast and exciting. And the gold medalist Shizuka Arakawa is also one of my favorites.

I was sad to see Sasha fall on her long program, but she still did a good job and her’s was the performance I enjoyed the most out of all the ladies.

I enjoyed her also but she was nowhere near the japanese for anything! There are arguments that the russian should’ve won it…but, so be it. The japanese in her long program was as excellent as the russian male skater in the short program. No one gets near these people…they are off the records! Sasha will come about in her time…she is young. God bless them all! 🙂

Locket, I have to agree with you about Sasha’s skating. IMO, while Arakawa’s program was well skated, she left out some of the more difficult moves she had planned .

Sasha’s performance reminded me of a ballerina on ice.

Peace,
MSGirl ❤️

I love Sasha, but I remember thinking of the three Sasha/Irina/Arakawa that perhaps Arakawa is the best middle ground of the three.

She is a much better jumper than Sasha is. And Arakawa also has better edges…And she’s pretty to look at. She moves accross the ice so fast, and silently.

I think Arakawa is a good middle ground between the athletic Irina and the beautiful to watch Sasha…If all three had done their best, I think Arakawa might have still won it.

But frankly that night, Arakawa wasn’t that impressive either with only 5 triple jumps…But she’s a really good skater.
