Perhaps it was in referance to him being “the Father of Lies” and his ability to distort and obscure absolute truths so that millions are unknowingly (perhaps) following him instead of the Lord.
This might be referring to when Satan was tempting Jesus in the wilderness. It’s very possible that Satan knows the Scriptures better than any of us humans.
