Would my scandal render me culpable for their sin? If I cause scandal to another person, how can I “make up” for it? By definition, the sin of scandal involves potentially leading another to sin, and so do I just trust that in my confessing of sin, the Holy Spirit will “reach out” to the sinner to get him or her to stop?

That’s one unfortunate thing about sin. We may not be able to right all the wrong we caused. That said set it right by any means possible, prayer or directly.

Your forgiveness in confession is separate from any of that, by the way.

You need to speak with your confessor, not us who are not confessors.

That’s what purgatory is for. You can be forgiven of a sin but still need to make up for its effects.

If I spill juice on the floor and apologise to my mum and she forgives me then she isn’t mad at me any more. But I still have to mop the floor
