Dear Brothers and Sisters,

Having spent some time in prayer during my recent “pause” from the Forum, I’m back today – significantly on a Saturday, “Mary’s Day” and on the Feast of an Apostle.

How precious is the Gift of Jesus through Mary, and how blessed are we in listening to Him say from His Cross to John and to us: “Behold Your Mother”!
How precious to behold her saying: “Be it done to me…” !
How precious listening to God’s Word, recounting the call of James and John! :
As He was passing by, Jesus saw James, the son of Zebedee, and John his brother, and He called them both. At once, leaving their nets and their father, they followed Him.
ALL are called to holiness as in Old and New Testaments God did and does speak to us:
(Leviticus 11:44) For I am the Lord your God. Consecrate yourselves therefore, and be holy, for I am holy.

(1 Peter 1: 13- 16) Therefore, gird up the loins of your mind, live soberly, and set your hopes completely on the grace to be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ. Like obedient children, do not act in compliance with the desires of your former ignorance but, **as He who called you is holy, be holy yourselves in every aspect of your conduct for it is written, “Be holy because I am holy.”
Come Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of Your Faithful. Kindle in us the Fire of Your Love that we may leave whatever may separate us from loving God and following Jesus as Mary did and as Sts James and John and all the saints have done. Father, thy Will be done on earth as it is in heaven. Jesus, we trust in You! Mary Mother of the Church, pray for us. St. James, pray for us.

Dear Stephie,

Thanks for your “faithful heart” on today’s post. It has been a comparatively short “pause” from CAF which began on June 30. God works in mysterious ways, and the last 25 days have been blessed in various ways. Hopefully, they have likewise been days of blessing for you also.

Continued reading of the Daily Mass readings and the Daily praying of the Liturgy of the Hours, each morning and during the day praying the Rosary, the Chaplet of Divine Mercy and also daily reading at least a few paragraphs often from St. Louis de Montfort’s “Treatise on True Devotion to Mary” have all been special gifts from the Lord for which I am truly grateful.

So how have you been these days? When you have time, I’d be grateful to hear how the Lord has blessed you!

The Lord continuously blesses me. I am alive, still relatively healthy, and blissfully happy. My son is doing well, and my sister (who shares our house) is a blessing. I have a job that I love. What more could I ask for?

Hope all has been well with you too.

May God abundantly bless you.

Dearest Stephie,

Yes, my dear Sister in Jesus and Mary — God has blessed you, indeed. Let us be grateful for ALL that He does! Thanks for sharing your blessings. Yes, we have been blessed abundantly as well and I count even the trials He God has permitted in our lives as a blessing for I know (even when I don’t understand) He is always working good for those who love Him and are called according to His Purpose.

Please let us continue to pray for one another, for our families, for the Church to shine with His Light in the darkness especially for those in most need of His Mercy, through Mary our Mother.

TE DEUM

You are God: we praise you;
You are the Lord: we acclaim you;
You are the eternal Father:
All creation worships you.

To you all angels, all the powers of heaven,
Cherubim and Seraphim, sing in endless praise:
Holy, holy, holy, Lord, God of power and might,
heaven and earth are full of your glory.

The glorious company of apostles praise you.
The noble fellowship of prophets praise you.
The white-robed army of martyrs praise you.

Throughout the world the holy Church acclaims you:
Father, of majesty unbounded,
your true and only Son, worthy of all worship,
and the Holy Spirit, advocate and guide.

You, Christ, are the King of glory,
the eternal Son of the Father.

When you became man to set us free
you did not spurn the Virgin’s womb.

You overcame the sting of death,
and opened the kingdom of heaven to all believers.

You are seated at God’s right hand in glory.
We believe that you will come, and be our judge.

Come then, Lord, and help your people,
bought with the price of your own blood,
and bring us with your saints
to glory everlasting.

Save your people, Lord, and bless your inheritance.
— Govern and uphold them now and always.

Day by day we bless you.
— We praise your name for ever.

Keep us today, Lord, from all sin.
— Have mercy on us, Lord, have mercy.

Lord, show us your love and mercy,
— for we have put our trust in you.

In you, Lord, is our hope:
— And we shall never hope in vain.

CONCLUDING PRAYER

O God,
protector of those who hope in you,
without whom nothing has firm foundation, nothing is holy,
bestow in abundance your mercy upon us and grant that,
with you as our ruler and guide, we may use the good things that pass
in such a way as to hold fast even now to those that ever endure.
Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son,
who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit,
one God, for ever and ever.
— Amen.

July 25 is also the Feast of St. Anna on the Byzantine calendar. Her feast is celebrated July 26 (today) on the Latin calendar.

Dear hazcompat,

Thanks so much for the beautiful words of Praise and Thanksgiving to God on this – the Lord’s day and the 17th Sunday in Ordinary time!

How Good and Glorious is our God, Father, Son and Holy Spirit, and how precious is the Virgin Mary brought into being by God’s Holy Will and Purpose.

Yes, may all creation worship Him through Mary Whose womb Jesus did not spurn in becoming incarnate to set us free!

Thanks dear Margaret_Ann,

Yes, July 26 is the Memorial of the Holy Parents of Mary, Saints Joachim and Ann, Rob posted a lovely Icon today, and I hope you’ve seen it. How lovely is God’s Work in this world! How humble and beautiful are the saints whom He has blessed and who by His Grace have cooperated with His Holy Will.

May we remember to pray for our own parents and families today through the intercession of Saints Joachim and Ann, and the intercession of their “perfect” daughter Mary, chosen and filled with God’s Grace, who reigns now in heaven with her Son, Jesus !

Dear GioG12, and Margaret_Ann

Thank for both for you “hearts” to indicate there was something in the post you liked. I’m late getting to the Forum this afternoon, usually I try to write early in the Morning and usually on the Mass Readings, but today my husband and I had some “unexpected happenings” at home! So here I am late but still very grateful for all the Lord sends into our livesI

By God’s Grace, I will now start a new thread for this Sunday, and the beautiful Readings from Scripture we heard at Mass this morning, on the 17th Sunday in Ordinary time.

Thank you. I knew that prayer sounded familiar. That was used for today’s collection prayer.

Sadly though superseded by the Sunday observance this year.

That said, while double commemorations no longer technically exist in the OF of the Roman Rite, I’ve seen priests celebrate “suppressed” feasts without deviating from the rubrics. For example, last September the feast of Our Lady’s Nativity was technically superseded by the Sunday, but at the Mass I went to, the priest still mentioned Her nativity and we sung a Marian hymn…while using the texts and peppers of the Sunday. Could do something similar today for St Anne
