So has it been definately decided and agreed as to how we are saved. Is it by faith alone,by works alone,by faith and works ,by works and faith,by grace and faith,by mercy and faith or any other way - any comments - twinc

This is my understanding.

We inherit eternal life by God’s love poured into our souls.

The Good Samaritan inherited eternal life by loving.

We are saved by belief in Jesus Christ. From that comes grace from God to give us continuing faith. With faith we are in compulsion to perform works of charity and acts of
hope and mercy. We are saved by following and doing the will of God.

We are saved by faith alone, except faith without works is dead, so that can’t save
us either. You are always doing works if you are alive another second. Are your
works faithful, or not? God will judge.

God wants man “His way”- this has always been His plan. We’re given the freedom to disobey and all such disobedience-or sin- involves not loving Him and/or our neighbor as ourselves. In order to know this- and overcome it so we can be aligned with His will again, we need the revelation from Him that He’s provided through the gospel and we need His direct help, i.e., grace. But in any case, as St John of the Cross said,

“At the evening of life, we will be judged on our love.”

I am past the evening of life and await His call. I hope He judges me favorably. God Bless.
