Here’s a great article on the news that is surfacing:

catholicculture.org/commentary/otn.cfm?id=951

Thankfully its starting to spread all over the internet. You can google it. I would say more about the story but I’m in middle of a huge term paper. The article is really good, says a lot, and gives decent links for additional background.

To get the gist of it:

“There is no evidence that Savita Halappanavar sought an abortion. There is no evidence that an abortion would have saved her life. There is, in fact, no evidence to support a connection between the abortion issue and this poor woman’s death. The reporter, Kitty Holland, told an RTE broadcast audience that her story never claimed an abortion would have saved the young woman’s life. But the headline—“Woman denied a termination dies in hospital’—certainly conveyed that impression.”

This is good news at it puts pro-choice manipulation tactics in the spotlight. Not only do they disregard the baby, but now it is becoming clearer that they also disregard the mother. I’m looking forward to hearing more about this. Even if it turns out that Savita had asked for an abortion at one moment, or that something in fact incriminated Irish abortion policy, it is clear that the pro-choice movement was not aware of these things at all when they organized their protests and rallies.

My condolences go out to Savita’s family who have been put in the middle of this mess at a tragic time, and I pray that her soul is seeing all this from a better place.

God bless,

Robert

Brace yourselves, for pro-“choice” advocates will come into this thread.

Is there a way of changing the title of the thread? I think that it could be misleading. Savita might have been refused an abortion, but this was apparently not demanded in any official capacity (so maybe it was just brought up as a possibility?), and there is no proof that it would have saved her.

I just want to get the story out clearly. There are still a lot of grey spots. And I think that if a mistake was made we should pin point it properly, and if there was no mistake and this truly is a rare accident we should leave the poor hospital staff and her grieving family alone.

I really believe there is so much more to this story than any of us know. Praying that this lady is holding her baby in heaven now

Seems the pro-aborts were quite dirty with their tactics in reporting this story.

Quite frankly they should be concerning themselves over the many many women who are being seriously injured and killed from abortions, then one woman who died miscarrying because there’s going to be enough people pushing paper over the cause of this woman’s tragic death.

An abortion wouldnt’ have saved her, it would have killed her faster, if anything.

Attorney for Savita’s Husband: He Never Said Abortion Could Save Her
By now you’ve doubtless heard the story of Savita Halappanavar, the Indian woman who died in an Irish hospital after possibly requesting an abortion.
Earlier this week, the reporter who initially broke the story with the headline “Woman ‘denied a termination’ dies in hospital”, implying that she died because she did not receive an abortion, admitted she did not even know for a fact that an abortion had even been requested.
Now, the attorney for Savita’s widower Praveen admits that his client has never claimed that the lack of an abortion put his wife’s life in peril:
My client wants to know why a request for a termination was refused. Mr. Halappanavar has never claimed in any interview that a termination could have saved his wife’s life.
The story has fueled protests against Ireland’s abortion laws across Europe and a movement to liberalize the country’s abortion policy which proponents are trying to rush through before Christmas.
As more and more facts come out, one thing is clear: Savita’s story and her memory are being abused for political purposes by abortion proponents.
Abortion campaigners were given advance knowledge of the story and the reporter who initially reported Savita’s tragic death, Kitty Holland, is the daughter of two known abortion proponents and has now admitted that an omission from her story made the news seem far more sensational than the facts allow.
We at the League will continue to follow the story and will continue to call on abortion proponents to stop taking advantage of the memory of a tragedy to push their political platform.

They should be! But Planned Parenthood feels there is no profit in preserving lives of women or unborn babies.

Planned Parenthood has put wool over the eyes of otherwise concerned, compassionate women. A lot of the pro-aborts (now that you’ve put it that way, I can’t see it any other way - the only choice they’re fighting for is abortion) are misguided and manipulated by a corporate chain that is driven by profits made from death.

How do we fight this misinformation? Not just of this particular case, but of the business model they follow that has been called out by prior employees? I honestly feel like this movement would be abandoned by the majority of women who fight for it if they truly knew what they were defending. And they would be utterly offended by many of the men who stand up for it if they understood their motivations for supporting abortion as well. That last part is postulating on my part…I heard somewhere that a large portion of pro-abort supporters are men in their early 20’s and it sounds to me like their support of it is motivated by sex without consequence. I know that if I ever became pregnant and the father suggested abortion I would think him an utter cad - even when I was a misinformed pro-abort myself.

I think it is extremely important that we do keep in mind that the majority of abortion supporters are misinformed. Many agree in theory with the pro-life movement but are mislead into believing that ending abortion means a death sentence for women and children. No, logically it makes no sence, but that is what PP and the like make.

There are also a lot if abortion supporters that are openly selfish. They admit that abortion saves no one, but they are not going to bring a baby into this world. They openly admit that they do not care if the child is living, it is their body and no one can take up residence in it if they don’t want them too. It has everything to do with their desire.

That being said, I believe the misinformed far outweigh the selfish. And I think that too often we allow our arguments to overlook those people. We get caught up fighting with the selfish minority and anger gets the better of us instead of calmly discussing with the people whose hearts are truly looking for answers.
