DAMON AND AFFLECK TO REMAKE CLASSIC WESTERN

Best pals MATT DAMON and BEN AFFLECK are teaming up on the big screen again to remake BUTCH CASSIDY AND THE SUNDANCE KID.

The actors will take on the roles made famous by PAUL NEWMAN and ROBERT REDFORD in the 1969 classic.

Damon will reportedly play the Sundance Kid, while Affleck will recreate Newman’s role as Butch Cassidy, according to America’s OK! magazine.

Heavens to murgatroid! Can’t anybody write movies anymore?! It seems like all we’re getting these days are remakes of old films and TV shows or cartoons made into movies.

I just refuse to go. Just about THE funniest movie I ever saw was the original “In-Laws” with Peter Falk and Alan Arkin – I doubt the remake was an improvement.
Same for “Yours, Mine & Ours,” “The Producers,” &c, &c.

Cool. I like them guys. They were great together in Dogma. There has not been a good Western in a long time. Hopefully this will be it.

i hope it is good. but i dont know about a movie that makes criminals look good like that.

It won’t be the same. I won’t go to see it. Why all the remakes? Lack of creativity?

Yep. That and a total surrender from Hollywood because not enough of us will watch their movies when they keep making stuff like *Fahrenheit 9/11, Dogma, * and Brokeback Mountain.

Well with Ben Affleck in it, it’ll probably bomb anyway.
Time for Ben to move behind the camera or find a new line of work.

Michael Moore has a right to express his opinion through the medium, just as homosexuals have a right to have movies made about them.

Be careful what you ask for… if he gives up his acting career, the next thing can be politics :bigyikes:

That’s true, and we have a right not to watch them. 😛 :angel1:

Yeah, they have a right to make all the movies they want. They just won’t convince me to buy a ticket to their trash.

I haven’t seen the Mountain movie, but the other two were quite good.

Having seen both the original and the remake, I can confirm your conjecture. They would have done better to just re-release the original

I have to agree! I think his problem is a complete lack of talent, but it could be just eternal bad luck… I mow grass for a living and am still glad that I am not him!!!

I havn’t seen the gay cowboy movie either but I am sure if you liked Jumbo’s Fahrenheit 9/11 and Dogma the gay cowboy movie will be to your liking.

Hey, congratulations, you’re being an jerk for no good reason to people who’ve done nothing to you. Very Christian.

There’s no one like Newman & Redford.

I agree. There is no way they can do a better job than Newman & Redford.

If there needs to be a remake, I can see Matt Damon filling a role, but not Ben Affleck. I don’t think very highly of his acting ability! Matt Damon is a great actor, though.

Still, the original wasn’t my cuppa joe anyway. It’s a great movie, just not my taste, so I really have nothing invested.

Liberalsaved, I am assuming that you started this thread to get opinions on the remake of Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid. It will naturally expand to opinions on other movies. If you don’t like to read other member’s opinions about what movies they will pay money to see, what movies they like and dislike, then don’t read the thread.

If someone doesn’t agree with the content in Dogma, F.911, or Brokeback Mountain, then they are entitled to voice their opinion on a thread asking for opinions, right? Please refrain from calling members rude names (Jerk) and accusing them of being “un-christian” I am sure for the poster you are accusing of being a “jerk,” paying money to promote movies which go against their religious and moral beliefs would be “unchristian.”

I would say that if a person enjoyed F.911, Dogma (which mocks Catholocism in a blatant and sacreligious way) Then there is a greater chance that the person will like Brokeback Mountain. This just sounds like a logical conclusion to me… not jerky or unchristian.

Next time, if you find yourself angry and annoyed about another person’s opinion, please take some time to cool off before calling them names and accusing them of being “unchristian.”

If he has as much success as his last couple of movies, his opponent would be a guaranteed shoo-in:rolleyes:
