Hi, I am new here and learning more and more about the catholic faith. Our family has been saying grace at our meals. Should we make the sign of the cross at the start and end of saying grace? What is the proper way. Thank you!šŸ™‚

WELCOME to the Forum and to the Catholic Church and YES is it proper to Cross yourself before each meal.

It is a wonderful time to actually enforce that sign of the cross be reverntly made. My dog isnā€™t the only one who works well for food.šŸ˜‰

There are many wonderful things to learn. Welcome to the boards. I am four years into finally learning my faith. It is a wonderful trip.

My only warning is to look out for the ā€œParish Policeā€, they know much about their faith, but they spend too much time judging how others live up to their level of enlightenment. Just donā€™t go there and join up with them and your journey will be wonderful.

Welcome home.:blessyou:

At our house, we sign the cross before and after grace. I donā€™t know that thereā€™s any ā€œrequirement,ā€ but for people who use the sign of the cross at grace, Iā€™ve always seen them do it at the beginning and end of the prayer.
