I live in mixed dorms. If it scandelous for an unnacompanied male to go into a females room:

at night,
in the day?

When I was in college, my roomates and I generally just left the door open if we had a male friend visiting.

If it was a boyfriend, we would either leave the door open, or knock before we came in the room… But we also held each other accountable. I mean, it wasn’t scandalous for my roomate to have her boyfriend over watching movies with the door closed, because I knew her, I knew her boyfriend, and I knew their morals. It was the same for her if my boyfriend (lol it feels weird to recall myself actually calling my husband my boyfriend!) was visiting:)

And of course, we never had male friends in our dorm over night. But I lived on a campus with a curfew and such…

My guess is that for you, if you feel like you might be causing scandal, then you should avoid it.

added above:)

It really depends on how you feel… If you’re worried that you will be tempted to sin, then yes I’d say you’re causing scandal.

If you are certain you and your girlfriend can remain chaste, then I don’t see it as scandelous.

Ok, so what if this person is my gilfriend and we want to talk etc. (nothing sinfull).
Then go to the library or a coffee shop. Otherwise, leave the door open, and no one will think anything bad of you.

Leaving the door open is an excellent idea - even if you’re planning on not doing anything sinful, people are human and temptations do arise, it’s best to make it as difficult as possible to sin!

For that matter, and this may sound paranoid but it happens, if you’re alone behind closed doors with a girl there’s always the potential for later accusations of assault - keeping the door open will protect against that as well.

What if I want some privacy.

Take it to be a hypothetical situation then where nothing sinfull is being done.
I completed my companies “Code of Business Conduct” training today. One of the oft repeated refrains was the we are to avoid “even the appearance of impropriety”. If this is true in the business world, how much more true is it in the spiritual world?

There is no privacy, in those places.
Dude…the library is absolutely deserted every weekend.

The bars are full, but the library is empty.

Find a cubby in the stacks somewhere and talk all you want. Or climb the stadium steps and sit in the top row looking out over the football field. Go for a long walk.

You can work this out if you really want to…

By the way, Billy Graham resolved early in his career that he would never be alone with a woman (except his wife) in an automobile or a room with the door closed.

No one ever accused him of any wrong-doing.
