1.) A couple of years ago I bought a brown scapular and asked my priest to enroll me. He didn’t appear to know exactly what I was talking about, and he blessed my scapular. I forget what words he used. Do I need to have a priest actually enroll me using a certain prayer, or was that blessing enough? Can I wear it until I am enrolled?

2.) I have a rosary that I’m not sure was ever blessed. Should I get it blessed again? Can I use it without having it blessed?

  1. Go to this site and scroll down almost half way. You will see in bold letters: "Is it necessary to be enrolled in the Scapular Confraternity… ? The entire article is excellent to read about the Scapular, since it is the latest catechesis from the two Carmelite branches.
  2. If you are not sure it was ever blessed then go ahead and have it blessed. The blessing contains the prayer of the Church, and sets the Rosary apart as something special. Yes, you can use it meanwhile even if you are not sure it is blessed.
