I think it’s also worth noting how different our hypothetical children are from our real children. The things we worry about before kids don’t usually line up with the things we worry about once they’re here.
There are times I worry that my kids will suffer spiritually under my care. Pretty much the moment I allow myself that sort of worry, one of them will do or say something beautiful that I never would have at that age. I thank God for these consolations and decide I’m not totally botching it, just keep fighting the good fight.
