they are dissenters, they have been re-writing the bible to suit their own agendas for centuries, why should this century be any different?

OMG! That’s awful! :bigyikes: Our culture has been dumbed down too much already. But to bring scripture down to that level? It’s horrid!

OH that’s AWFUL, HORRIBLE, DISGUSTING,SACRILEGE and BLASPHEMEY!!!

Isn’t the NAB scarier, though? It’s like comparing Dan Rather to Baghdad Bob: you can’t tell when Rather is making something up.

“These words of Scripture have more authority than the most exalted human intellect.” ST, I, Q 68, a 2.

no, the NAB is a much better translation. it’s not the best, but it’s better than this tripe. it’s not the dumbing down that bothers me. it’s the watering down.

John The Dipper. Wow. Send these people to a mental hospital.

Dear friends

What I have never understood, nor never will understand is this…how can someone even dare to strive to rewrite the Bible when it is the Divine inspired work of God? It is a different matter to translate the Bible, but to re-write it?? This is dangerous ground, not merely for those who read it, but for those who would deem themselves of such an authority to do so.

God Bless you and much love and peace to you

Teresa

Of course not. The NAB is approved through our legitimate Church authority.

:banghead:

Just when I thought things couldn’t get worse. They did. The Message version was pretty terrible - but still gets used in churches in place of decent translations, even though it often says things very different to what a good Bible would say. Someone in our church read from it in a sermon a couple of weeks back - so things would be easy to understand - and wished he hadn’t. The Message made the totally opposite point that the Bible made.

In a group Bible study I was part of in a baptist church one woman had “The Living Bible”. Every single week, without fail, she would pipe up and say “my Bible says something different.” Wonder why.

And now there’s this version. Ach y fi as the Welsh say. This is awful. But it is certain that it will be read in some verses and loved by lots of people being led away from truth.

This is a decent article - there are many online I’m sure and contains the first 4 chapters of Matthew. :crying: There’s also the foreword and introduction which are equally distressing.

Don’t read it if you want to stay happy. To give you an idea - in the temptation narratives of your Bible you probably have 2 characters - Jesus and Satan. This translation has one one character.

Now excuse me. I have to go. I feel, literally, physically sick as a result of reading this.

Blessings

Sad thing: I’ve actually had Christians laugh in my face when I’ve said things against the more dreadful versions or against certain songs we sing that misquote scripture. :crying:

Yikes - I couldn’t resist reading more. This version apparently totally misses out 8 New Testament books. And adds the so called Gospel of Thomas.

Detroit Sue:
Utterly reprehensible.

Good As New (?)
That is a terrible translation. They changed Peters name to Rocky. They completely changed the meaning of many of the passages in the bible. As the article says, it is to blur what is good and what is bad.

Now this is scary! We can only pray that it doesn’t become a Best Seller like The Da Vinci Code did…:nope:

I’m shaking my head in disbelief. Rocky was on the mountain? Did he yell “Yo Adiran?”

Also it is clearly anti-catholic. Lines such as “Mary and Joseph didnt have sex until the baby was born” of course implying that they would later have sex. This is literally rewriting the bible for their own purposes

Does anyone know what the version of the last supper is? Id hate to see it but i can imagine what itd be like. And of course itd be “This bread REPRESENTS my body”

Times like this im so grateful im a catholic, if i was Anglican id be weeping now

Thought I would read all the posts first, I am sorry that I opened the link, it is so sickening what people do today. I am just thanking God that the title of Bible is not on the book. But the implication is there. SOOOO sad. :crying:

Did you see their translation / obliteration of Mark 1:4. I have had some cats dipped for fleas. I never heard of people getting dipped.

Matthew 23:25 is “Take a running jump, Holy Joes, humbugs!”. I don’t know why they didn’t say “flying leap” instead of “running jump”.
