Just a few minutes ago I smelled the scent of flowers while sitting here at my laptop in our hotel room. I assumed that my wife had sprayed some perfume or something so I asked her what it was. She said she sprayed nothing and didn’t smell flowers. She came over close to where I was sitting and smelled the same scent. My son and daughter also smelled it. Yesterday, while waiting in line for confession my son had asked me what that “flower” smell was but at the time I couldn’t smell anything. He said it smelled exactly like the smell we just experienced a few minutes ago. There’s been a couple other occasions. A few months ago there was an area in our house close to where we have a home altar that had the same smell. About 1 1/2 years before that that same scent was downstairs. Is there any meaning to this?

I had this experience as my entire family when my grandmother died. Every time I would be at adoration and get droosy I would smell a strong scent of roses. Its called something but I have always associated it with my grandmother and how I was brought back to the faith the day she died. It is an awesome experience.

How fortunate you are Mt19:26.

A scent of flowers, particularly roses, when there is no apparent reason for the scent to be present is associated with the presence of Our Blessed Mother. I was fortunate to have this occur once. Once when I was younger, unmarried, and engaged in sinful behavior, I experienced the smell of something dead until I stopped what I was doing.

I guess it’s possible to smell a holy presence, as well as an evil one. I’d much rather smell roses. Thank you Blessed Mother!

I sometimes smell cigarette smoke, just in our home, and not always during prayers (sometimes while watching TV), although NO one in our house smokes and no one is allowed to smoke in the house. I kinda think it might be my late mother’s way of telling me she’s around, praying for me and the family. Both she and dad were smokers. I think this started when I was taking care of my MIL and it was getting more stressful. It doesn’t seem to happen as much since my MIL passed away.

Padre Pio’s wounds were said to always smell fragrant. I would take it as a sign you are being blessed in a special way.

Don’t know about smelling smoke, though!

Peace,
Mimi

I’ve always been told that the scent of roses was a sign of the precense of our Blessed Mother.
I, too, experienced this once while in school. In our school basement, a man was painting a large painting for a neighboring parish that pictured the major Marian apparitions. While he was painting, one could smell roses and the scent was very strong and wonderful. We used to go down there and watch him and sing and take in the beauty that is Our Blessed Mother!
