Schismatic or "Not in full communion with the Church/Rome"

Good afternoon:

Someone is under the impression that those who “hate the Novus Ordo Mass” and believe Pope Francis is “A bad Pope” are “Not in communion with the Catholic Church or the Pope”.

Can someone with some horsepower here set the record straight? Many replies from priests, religious and lay people are welcome.

Hating the Liturgy and believing the Pope to be a bad pope are just opinions, which, while problematic, would not necessarily mean that one is out of communion with the Church.

The sins of separation are heresy, schism, and apostasy–these things are essentially when communion is lacking in those essentials necessary for membership in the Church. None of the things you mention in and of themselves are any of those. A member of the Church can also lack “full communion,” due to canonical action so that communion is lacking in some privileges enjoyed by Catholics in good standing . For example, a priest may be suspended “a divinis.” He is, therefore, “lacking in communion with the Church,” to the extent that, as a priest, he may not celebrate the Divine mysteries.

So long as they believe the Novus Ordo is actually a proper Mass, and that Pope Francis IS pope, then there’s no necessary schism in these thoughts.
