Is it wise (in order) for a college which aims to develop Catholic lay leaders to extend scholarship grants to non-Catholics? :o

it is wise if the college also has other goals, such as to make a libberal education based on Christian values available to the widest range of students.

thank you, puzzleannie. our country is multicultural, and the college aims to serve all peoples. one of its subjects is on missiology and dialogue, which among others should help students learn how to dialog with other cultures and faiths. our problem seems to be on how to allocate insufficient resources, whether it should be restricted first to people we want to develop as catholic lay leaders or extended also to others of a different faith (who sometimes in our particular situation, attacks the catholic church in order to recruit members to their churches).
we appreciate your point. good liberal education for everyone may just be as important a goal as to train leaders of one faith.

another area to explore is development, not just fundraising, but professional guidance in attracting donors, investing, planning and building for the future. I don’t know if you are in admin or a student, or what your stake is. Part of this would be doing as you suggest, looking at what the goals and mission of the college are. An example of a dying college that experienced a renewal through this process is Franciscan U of Steubenville, when former Pres. Michael Scanlon TOR decided to let the Holy Spirit guide planning and development for the school.

professional competence and openness to the Holy Spirit. I pray that I may have more of those.
