Scientology vs Germany?

I just saw an article over at NY Times about Germany not permitting the filming of a WWII-set movie involving Tom Cruise because of his involvment in Scientology:

Wow! Is Pope Benedict XVI bringing Germany back from the brink of secularism? Could it be?

This story, typical of Reuters ‘news’, is a little confusing with all the contradictory statements, but they buried the most important quote of the whole story in the 2nd to last paragraph:

Stauffenberg’s eldest son said he did not want Cruise to portray his father.

That should kill the whole debate right there, if you ask me.
