Has anyone used Scott Hahn’s on-line bible studies? Were they easy to use? Was the commentary clear? I’m considering using them with my 13 and 16 year olds for religion this year. Any and all comments welcome! —KCT

I have completed the beginner’s study on his web site www.salvationhistory.com

It is very good, but there is a lot of information in each section, so I would suggest taking it very slowly and allowing time to absorb some of it before plunging into the next section. I’m not sure about this one for 13 year olds. I think it could be adapted (or maybe I’m just slow!) but it was not an easy study for me to go through.

I just started the intermediate course. They are full of wonderful information, but, like I said, sometimes I get information overload and have to stop or have to repeat some of the sections.

I haven’t taken the courses on the Salvation History website, but have used the Catholic Exchange studies that Mr. Hahn co-authored. I agree that they may be too advanced for the teens.
Bless you for involving teenagers in the study of the Word though!!
This may be of interest:

Another idea is to maybe involve your teens in a Catholic youth program like LifeTeen where I think there are bible studies?
Maybe th ehomeschoolers out there have some ideas for you too about curriculum and such. Good Luck!!

Before you check out LifeTeen, I feel I should refer you to the links on this site about the LifeTeen program so you can judge whether you want your kids to be involved or not.
I hope you find out something though about teen bible study - try the homeschool forum!! God Bless!

plus three on-line seminars in between and have been to busy w/ this forum to go to the next level. I would highly recommend it!
I also have viewed a 13 part series on video “Our Father’s Plan” by Scott Hahn & Jeff Cavins,(salvation history from Genisis to the Catholic Church) --Highly recommend it as well! I can be purchased @ EWTN Catalogue. Annunciata:)

I’m doing the advanced class on the Gospel of Matthew. I get more out of it if I take notes, even if I have printed out the lesson. His stuff is eye opening. You could use it with teen agers if your background in scripture is reasonably good.-- or discover stuff together. :

I have done the beginners study and the intermediate study and they are great Catholic studies. I also went to Renewal Ministries class for Bible Stufy in July and found a new bible study called Come and See. This is a study developed by a Catholic Priest and a Catholic Laywoman. They also have children’s studies as well. They have 3 studies out right now, Genesis, St. John and the newest one Prophets and Espistles, the first 2 studies have children’s programs, the last one hasn’t been printed yet. The cost of the books are $20.00 each and include notes, questions and followup or wrap up lecture notes as well. Email Laurie Manhardt at CatholicBibleStd@aol.com for more info.
