Some f’rinstances based upon some of the things in this thread. Medical care/medication: this has always been something which a jail or prison MUST provide–IF A PRISONER HAS A BONA FIDE MEDICAL CONDITON VERIFIED BY PRISON MEDICAL STAFF. Generally, if one comes into prison with a medical condition attested by an outside physician, prison medical personnel will review the medical records and verify the condition–because there ARE outside medical people who are corrupt, or who were lured into enabling someone’s addition, etcetera. There are even cases where treatments or medication have been prescribed by people who are NOT doctors. Abuse/bullying by correctional officer or staff: Correctional officers in federal and most state institutions DO receive psychiatric evaluations during the hiring process. And allegations ARE investigated. In some cases, review boards even include one or more prisoners. In today’s prisons, EVERYTHING gets videorecorded, yet prisoners make blatantly false allegations repeatedly.
