the other factor is that if you are using an existing bible study program approved by the diocese, the materials were probably written using one translation usually the NAB or RSV-CE, so it will but much easier if the whole class has the same edition. Bro is right that a good instructor should know the differences in types of translation, the pluses and minuses, and how to compare them, but that discussion should not take up so much time that the topic of the study gets ignored.

there is nothing to prevent you from preparing for the lesson using the translation prescribed, and then yourself comparing it to the D-R, and if you have access to the Haydock commentary, consulting it as well, although you will be doubling your work it will be very instructive, but not if it keeps you from completing your homework.

arcee - No, I don’t think anything is online.

puzzleannie - oddly enough, the guide uses RSV-CE, but our primary Bible recommended is the NAB.

In the 2 assignments I’ve turned in, I’ve used all 3 (DR, RSV-CE2, NAB).

Thanks to all who have replied!
