Did anyone see “Scrubs” last night on NBC? I believe this episode was a repeat, but I hadn’t seen it before.

Just to setup: A group of people were planning a big get together to tell this woman that she was pregnant (long story as to how she didn’t know). When something happened where they couldn’t follow through with the plan, the party planner was shouting to everyone, “abort the plan, abort the signs, abort the baby”. He was looking right at the priest that was there when he said “abort the baby”.

A few minutes later, the guy said to the priest, “sorry about that abort the baby thing earlier.”

The priest replied, “that’s okay; I’m pro-choice.”

Was anyone else extremely offended as a Catholic that they aired this?

Yes, and I do think it was a re run…they discussed it in the media forum…
I don’t watch the show…

It was a repeat. I thought this was a cute show when it first aired, but I stopped watching a while ago, it got so raunchy.
I remember there being a thread about this - maybe it still exists? (Maybe it was posted before the crash…?)

Time would be better spent being offended at real priests who are “pro-choice.” Or, for another genuine cause for offense, consider Georgetown University (“A university in the Jesuit tradition”) recently naming one of its buildings after a pro-abortion priest.

My :twocents:
This reminds me why I do not watch T.V. 😦 too much garbage and little to nothing that one can do about it :banghead:

At my place we do not have satellite, cable or an antenna. When we go out to eat and they ask “smoking or non?” I say “non TV” 😉

Well said. I have always been amazed at how “offended” people are by TV shows (especially comedy shows which seek to offend like South Park) they do not have to watch but seem to care very little about similar, or far worse problems in real life.

Perhaps someone at Scubs thought they had to do something like equal time–an episode this season, JD and his girlfried are discussion “options” about her unplanned pregnancy. The African-American nurse (sorry, don’t know the character name) is nearby when “abortion” is raised–tand the nurse objects (she’s Catholic, wonders of wonders in a hospital which has the name Sacred Heart)–the girlfriend tells the nurse to but out–and the nurse in reply hauls out a little statue of Jesus w/ Sacred Heart

as the show is want to do, JD (Zach Braf) has a confrontation (in his imagination)w/ the suddenly animated Jesus–who tells him in no uncertain terms no way is He going to aproive of abortion

“Not even if the fetus is a grosly disformed and the prodect of incestuous rape?” JD asks

“How should I put it–NO!!!” Jesus replies

A scene later, JD & girlfriend have just finished having sex in the resident’s bedroom. The Jesus statue is there, and says

“HELLO, I DON’T SEE ANY WEDDING RINGS!!!”
