Hello - I was wondering if an Internet buff would be willing to point me in the right direction. I would like to know if there is a site/sites where you can type in movies, music, or books you like and have it come back with recommendations of things you may like that are similar.

Like I would put in a book title of Classic Literature, or Epic Movies, or a “Folk” Music Artist and get results like - Jane Austen, Roots, or Joan Baez, etc. . .

Please let me know of anything available with these types of services - preferably free!! 😃

Why not at Amazon.com? Given a certain title they will give you similar picks based on what previous customers bought.

Your best bet is Amazon.com. When you look at an item there, they also list other items most commonly bought by people who purchased that item. Additionally, users of the site make their own lists of recomendations (usually based on a theme). You don’t actually have to buy anything to use these kinds of recomendations, but if you do buy things the recomendations made specifically for you will start to get more fine tuned to your tastes.

You won’t find too many sites that offer this service without trying to sell anything to you simply because it’s a lot of work (and expense) maintaining these comprehensive databases of context-sensitive recomedations and retailers are the most likely group of people to profit from having them.
