Second coming or chastisement

Dear all,

I’m really confused, what comes first the chastisement of fire predicted by our lady at Akita
or the second coming?

Gabriel Amorth said in 2015 that the chastisement was close, could be in a matter of months
he also said there were so many exorcisms because Jesus was returning soon

Please don’t answer, you need to treat today like its your last, I know that, I’m just confused about what to expect.

I always heard it was the chastisement first, then about a period of 25 years or so of peace with a great monarch. Then the antichrist would rise up, then the second coming.

“Chastisement” is a private revelation.

Much of the end times stuff is from non-Catholic dispensationalist beliefs.

You might find David Currie’s book “Rapture” to be of interest.

The chastisement, if there is one, would come first. I say if because there’s nothing scriptural about a chastisement, unless you want to think of the breaking of the seals or the blowing of the trumpets in Revelation as chastisements. They are warnings so severe, you’ll know when they come. There also needs to be the ministry of the Two Witnesses, who bring in the “fullness” of the Gentiles and conversion of the Jews. Only then will the Antichrist and False Prophet be revealed, who will persecute the Church almost to extinction. It is then that the Lord will return and throw them into the lake of fire and destroy the Antichrist’s armies with the sword coming out of his mouth (his Word). There is also the unbinding of Satan, who gathers his armies (so-called Gog and Magog) in a final assault at Armageddon. He, too, will be thrown into the lake of fire and his armies destroyed by fire from heaven. Then we get to the resurrection of the dead and the final judgment. Catholics are advised to treat much of Revelation as symbolic, so don’t expect everything to be as literal as written above. Catholics fight a spiritual battle with evil (every time you go to Mass and avoid sin), not a literal one.

Modern Catholic Dictionary, MILLENNIUM.

A thousand years during which Christ is to rule on earth, before the last day, based on Revelation 20:1-5. Held by some Fathers, such as Justin (A.D. 100-65) and Ireneus (130-200), the millennium is still professed by a number of Protestant denominations. The Catholic Church interprets the biblical passage as referring to Christ’s spiritual reign in the Church and takes “thousand years” to mean simply an indefinitely long time.

Millenarianism. A large number of sects are preoccupied with the millennium, or reign of Christ on earth for 1,000 years. Although concern for this doctrine goes back to the Anabaptist movement in Reformation times, it is quite alien to traditional Protestantism.
